Deja vu. This time it's the offside JK dire quality cv joint. Learnt my lesson and got help pushing him off the road this time.
That's a shame, especially as your driving experience should have been so nice and quiet! Hope you're at home by now.
CV joints usually take a while to go, or are put together 60 degrees out.. a wobbly worn one may articulate sort of when misassembled, but a few bumps later...
Probably not tbh… but they are all from people who haven’t yet fitted their item, or presumably not even taken it out of the box yet
Redneck solution... for those on a long trip stuck miles away from a garage.. If you can lock the disconnected gearbox output shaft by bolting some angle iron to it, tied to the rear suspension beam with webbing straps you will go twice as fast with half the torque. Your differential will hate you too..
I think from memory the crap ones are Febi. Replacements are GKN Lobro from Brickwerks. Can't remember if I bought two last time or not. Hope I did then I can fix it tomorrow. JK 5 stars
Yep it's the other side. I knew I should have changed both, even though they were new and fitted correctly. There was no warning this time, like the clicking I got last time.
15 months ago but I really should have done them both at the time given that I knew they were rubbish. Really sloppy and loose compared to the GKNs.
