  1. Hopefully they released the steering lock

I imagine it would need to be locked straight at least?

Locked straight. Towed home 30 miles, then unhitched in the road, fitted his tow bar instead and pushed me up the drive and all the way into the garage. Proper service that.

Oh far from ignominious, nay even preferable. You shoulda heard the racket from the defunct drive shaft. Would be funny if it wound the mileometer back 30 miles.

It should have clocked backwards ..

Its scary trusting to the pin going into the somewhat worn hole in the collar on the inner steering column tube. Mine was only towed backwards 3 miles around several mini roundabouts .
I had to use the philosophy of "if it goes wrong its dead but until it goes wrong carry on normally" .

When I was towed off Anglesey, I had to rely on the anti theft lock that goes from steering wheel and rests on dash top, as my steering lock has never worked. I was a tad concerned.

Guess what! It did rewind the clock. So next time you get towed back from a trip, make sure you get towed backwards and reset your mileage to where you started

Strange it only took 22 miles off, he went the long way home too.

Well that's a record for me, all fixed back on and torqued up. Test drive tomorrow.

I inadvertently maligned Febi earlier in the post. Guess what it was, yep, JK Classicline of course.

Exactly the same as the other side did. Not even 1000 miles. They should be withdrawn from sale before someone gets a heart attack pushing their bus off the road ;). They seriously are a pile of crap.

  9. If anyone gets recovered by a flat bed. Make them aware of the steering dampers. Lots throw the brother straps over the front beam to winch it on and bend it. Just saying..

I had exactly the same happen to me 2 years ago , Pulling on to a very busy roundabout, luckily downhill so could just about coast to a reasonably safe spot. JK should be pulled up for this , you cannot keep supplying significant parts that are clearly inferior. Dodgy and crap minor parts are still not acceptable , but anything relating to brakes, suspension and drive is bordering on criminal.

    CV yes.
JK are odd, most of their stuff is ok but it's like now and again someone offers them eg your CV joints at £200/1000 and instead of rejecting the obvious bad buy they rub their grimy hands with glee, sell them on, claim nobody else has reported a problem when they self destruct and generally deflect criticism until they've sold them all.

Are JK adopting the Post Office stance…… “ you are the only one who has this problem “
Personally I avoid JK . They are however very , very good at handling and crediting returns. Practice makes perfect :D

I stopped using them precisely because they would take something back. My experience was awful customer service.

Shameless. I truly don't understand though. The bad publicity they get for this kind of thing must outweigh the cost of scrapping the parts. They don't need to do it.

Don’t need to ..yes . But it certainly has an impact on their profitability. They shamefully carry on regardless .

  19. Hope you're going to share views with JK when you ask for a refund. They'll likely tell you're the first person who's complained.
