I totally agree with you, I took mine to Horley Tuning centre and after a rolling road set up it was like driving a new van
They are at flight path farm, smallfied, Andy the fella that does the tuning is a right miserable sod but he really knows his stuff, he builds engines for their racing team when I went last time they had a mark 2 Cortina savage in for tuning, I nearly ... you know what
I would highly recommend Eurocarb. I spoke to them on the phone and ended up with Dellorto DRLAs. Ready jetted to my engine specs. Fitted them nearly ten years ago. Not had a rolling road done yet lol but very happy with them.
@Milky your thread has gone off at a bit of a tangent but if you’re still going for the ICT kit you’ll need to make a modification to the air filters for the fuel tank and crankcase breathers. Eurocarb sell the fittings. https://www.dellorto.co.uk/shop/vw-...manifolds-linkages-parts/breather-pipe-elbow/
You might try these folk for elbow fittings. A bit pricey, but well made and don't look like something the local plumber would fit. I used 3/8" NPT elbows pushed into suitable grommets on the air filter tops. http://www.ebaystores.co.uk/hosefittingsuk
They do good stuff. I used 1/2" BSP for the oil hoses, but for tapered seal stuff you might as well use US NPT, as there's a much wider range of fittings. NPT taps easily available. I used 1/4" NPT for the servo take-off below (about 8mm ID hose), 3/8" NPT (about 13mm ID hose) for the breathers.
Hi, Phoning Eurocarb on friday to order my ICTs but they do a 36 dello kit at a reasonable price.Anyone tried these ? One thing is clear judging by this thread is that all of us love Carburettors !
Dells will be refurbished but as long as you don’t mind that then they’re very good carbs. Webers would be new made in Spain.
Those that use Dells will say they are better but the difference is marginal and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the Webers. Of course, I’m biased, I have twin IDFs on my Type 4.
