windows did an update earlier and since the reboot the fan on the laptop is on and off like a tarts pants for 2-3 second bursts why is that, any ideas?

  2. It may have got stuck in a sub route somewhere.
CTRL ALT DELETE and have a look at what the processor is up to.
If it doesn't stop after a restart then restore to previous setting until Microsoft realise and sort it out.

it works so i suppose i don't care really, just annoying how the fan keeps going on and off - i never usually hear it.

  10. Open a command window and type

    > kill -9 "asian babes volume 7"

    This should restore performance.

haha, that deffo isn't my bag baby, wrong continent for a start and without someone playing the race card wrong tone...... anyways i pride myself on not going on dodgy sites and clicking on any links which is why i've only had 2 computers in the last 15 years - they don't tend to catch things.

as for turning off windows updates @Lord Congi why? update means improve - i don't go with all the spying crap so i let it do what it's meant to.

i knew what you meant my friend, as for asking your mate, no worries - to be fair i wouldn't have a clue what to do if someone did tell me, i'll just wait for the next update i guess, i was just hoping someone was going to say summat easy/sensible/understandable.

It's probably a poorly thought out idea from Microsoft to attempt to save power consumption.
