  1. Should you subsequently need replacement brass bearings, I have the correct ones (NOS) available.

  2. think my spindles are goosed. anybody bought some lately? good ones, bad ones,? jk appear to sell pairs for $25 whereas coolair seem to be $36 for one. suspicious of jk ;)

  3. excuse me for being a sh1tforbrains, but which bit is the bearing? the sleeve or the spindle inside? @vwed

  9. The bearing is the sleeve. I call them bearings as that is what VW calls them in their parts book. Similarly they call "spindles" "shafts".

  10. Tonight been stripping off my old seized spindles from the arms(?) to replace with nice new (to me - secondhand) spindles courtesy of @davidoft who has come to the rescue again~ thanks muchly mr David ~ wow what a difference! If I remember correctly although my wipers were working ok, they were noisy, clunky which is a sure sign the spindles are seized, but these new ones were well greased and nice smooth spinning, so will work a treat. Along with the new seals and caps etc to keep the rain from getting in through the spindle holes in the front panel, I reckon that's a job well worth doing for anyone who's got clunky wipers, and not too hard a job :) Happy chappy

Having said that, I still got to get the wiper motor back in place.......

From the pictures it looks like the spindles have been rubbing for so long that the hole in the panel has got bigger - almost to the point that seals will not cover it properly. It might be worth checking and maybe being creative to make a proper seal.
