When you open the door of the vertical cupboard, in the back right hand corner, the bed cushion underneath fights against the hinges when the door is open, and pulls the screws out of them.

I went to Screwfix and bought some magnetic latches, today with a ruler, pencil and a bit of dead reckoning i now have a pull off hatch. I had to ring the wife, who’s away dog sitting, and ask her where I’d find a rubber (to get my pencil lines off, she’s a teacher and has these things), she didn’t sound surprised and suggested the chemist before I explained why I wanted one, then she told me which box in which drawer to look in.

  2. Did some knitting, so my interior light in the headbanger comes on when the tailgate is open...

Dodged the rain and did a final skim of the lumpy bits (which I started back in September )..

Is that a white board on the ceiling for night time doodling?

Our cat decided he just had to sit on me, irrespective that I was reading Bentley in preparation of taking off my steading wheel. Oblivious to my book and drink, pussy cat had his way, unfortunately, Bentley and my drink became much more acquainted than I would have liked

A rather large mouse or maybe a ham fisted PO had left me with a rather chewed up steering cowl and starter electrical connector. On my way to sorting this out but currently on pause whilst eBay delivers locking spade connectors as I only have the normal type :(

Whilst I wait, I'm going to look at why my wipers only run fast, don't self park and won't wishie washie :)

  8. The crimps with the locking tabs will click in there nicely. But...does look like that red wire has overheated. Best to find out why.

Wipers - just change the whole lot out with a new motor

  11. Looking at your cowl, looks like someone's tried to prise it off without undoing the screws underneath.

  12. Dismantled dashboard and started the masking for a repaint.

Carpets, kick panels and door cards to do, but not just yet.

  13. Best to take the dash out, IMO. Easy enough

  14. How many PICT carbs does a man actually need? Four of them, at last count.

Yes, that is what it looks like. Old cowl no longer has one of the screws etc. Took me quite a long time to find the cowl in a swap meet and just a year for me to get round to fitting it!

As for my wishie washie wipers, will look at the switch first before diving into the motor side of things. Ta

  16. Could be the switch, but more likely to be the 40-year-old motor, I'd think.

  17. Thanks, advice taken.

I’ve got the wiper motor to replace and some spotlights to wire up so decided it would be easier. Plus a bunch of old wiring for a stereo that no longer exists to come out.

Apart from a rust spot on the dash I knew about its looking pretty good.

Any other suggestions for jobs whilst it’s apart?

  18. Might want to check the state of your washer hoses? Everything much easier with the whole dash out!

Whilst I do a few jobs round my steering column and wait for parts, I noticed that a wire on my control switch looks like it's routed incorrectly. it's not broke but, would anybody know if the green and black wire should be routed through the small hole rather than the way it currently is routed round the outside and obviously being squashed as is. Assuming it should be going down the hole, how easy is it to take the switch apart.... not that I really want to do this. Thanks.
