In typical fashion I left at about 2, only for about a dozen other beetles to arrive in convoy.

Malvern Morris minor centre did a full respray from blue to maroon on mine in a week for £600. It was 1986 though but they’re still going apparently and still very reasonably priced and attentive.

Sarah you’re making me envious I so always wanted a mint traveller.

I got told last week that someone I know 'gave away' their Traveller!!!!!

Though it did go back to the daughter of the previous owner - sounds familiar. :)

I’d like to say I’ve taken another step forward in getting Henry back on the road again, but it’s probably more of a little ‘step to the side’…..
The engine bay was looking a bit shabby. And surface rusty.

So the lack of engine seemed to be an opportune time to do something about it.

Not the best job ever, but I’m quite pleased with my efforts!

  8. Looking good!
I've got a couple of engine bays that could do with a bit of tidying up, if you want some extra practice

Another 7 0r 8 weeks down the line and finally the engine block is back from being machined....
we've now got a decent head, a painted sump, and an engine block with smooth surfaces.... surely I'm going to get to drive the blasted thing before Christmas......

Brilliant engines to work on ...straight forward and uncomplicated and strong . Have you got one of those big Morris Minor workshop manuals Sarah ..well worth it if you can get hold of one .
Might find one on E Bay .

haha no, that's not my paintwork.
Apparently because it was a Morris 'Gold Seal' engine, it has to now be painted - although I suspect all Morris Engines get a lick of paint, as any I've seen all look shiny and green!
The Gold Seal engines were a batch that came out of the factory towards the end, that had to be returned and completely rebuilt by Morris. To indicate that they were an official factory rebuild, they were painted gold. Mine is now no longer a 'rebuilt by Morris' engine. Thus it can't officially remain gold.
(These Morris enthusiasts really are quite concerned with details like this! .... Lord knows what they'd make of @snotty's gold gearbox!!)
