Certainly does, they are quite keen to have it on the road which does help me push on with the jobs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got the doors fitted (still need aligning correctly) Had a go at painting the tailgate but got some major reactions so that needs to be started again He did get out into the front garden to officially meet the bug and they had a Halloween party together I’m now working on brackets to get the rock and roll bed secured. The one I have is ply wood with the r&r hinges and I’m going belt and braces on making sure it’s fully attacked to the van in as many places as possible
Been doing a bit of wood butchering to make this work in my rhd bus It’ll do the job to get us out and camping Need to make the cupboard door open the other way Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Next mission is to get the top section of dash to fit I don’t have anything to attach the dash to Think some tabs are in order It will also get a coat of reconditioning satin black Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Haven’t done a massive amount lately Got some tabs welded into secure the dash top into place Had a go at fitting the new windscreen, haven’t been successful yet, going to wait for warmer weather Can’t quite get the top in Have also been trying to figure out some of the horrific wiring, got the front light sorted I think. One part I am struggling to find is the switch for the kick down solenoid for the auto box I guess it would have to be integrated with the accelerator pedal.
Windscreen still not in but I have been sorting out some other issues in my Marmite list Most of them electrical (what’s that for and where does that go) issues Looks like it had a tow bar at some point I know the green-ish cables are for my gen light, not sure on the 2 black cables yet (reverse light ) Made some spring clips for the cluster
Chopped up some door hinges to make new flap hinges, the plastic ones were cracking Worked out the cause of the horrific bang when going into reverse. Not sure how this happened but a bit of torture in the big vice see it back to shape. Still need to give this a test Something is missing on my steering column for the indicator and wiper arms to clamp too, not sure what it is yet though Also been through and adjusted the handbrake and rear shoes. Todays job has been fuel lines, I am going to use an electric pump which I have put on a plate suspended under the battery tray. Made some clips up to hold everything into place nicely Just waiting on a few more hose clips to arrive and work out how I want to supply the pump and we should be good to test
Rip Curl - 70’s Aussie surfing bus. go through all the hiding holes. Probably find some left over stash
The interior didn’t come from this bus, all I have found are a few old receipts and a fag packet. Rust and about £300 of filler
Work has been slow of late, pretty much living at work with the occasional visit to home I have managed to sort some of my many electrical issues out though. We now have hazard lights, after finding a ground that was missing from the flasher relay, then sorting out 3 of the four indicator lamp holders which were cruddy I now have right indicators but not left yet. Need to look at the switch I think Now have (pretty much) working headlights and replaced the glass in the drivers side. That fell out many moons ago when I clumped the a pillar from the inside Brake lights also work, just reverse to sort now. Any ideas where the switch is on an auto for this? Made up a new starter motor cable and hot start relay Wipers are next on my list of jobs, to do up front. And cab door wipers seals and scrapers for both sides. And finally managed to get that windscreen in
Reversing light switch on an auto is under the black plastic gear selector cover ... from memory just a contact that completes a circuit when lever is aligned with "R" .
I just rubbed the contact area and I suddenly had reversing lights that I had thought weren't connected.
That’s been working for a few of my electrical issues. I shall defiantly give it a try Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Last weeks battle has been door scrapers and seals, fiddly and wound inducing to my not so dainty hands One side done, found out today that I’m missing the window glass gripper plate that bolts to the regulator, and the regulator itself waiting on a delivery for those I picked up a pair of bumpers and a tow bar which are not in perfect condition but are much better than what I had before (not mangled or rotted to bits) the front went on today. One less thing to trip over Indicators are working, all of them , found the connector under the dash to the switch was wired incorrectly. Nice easy fix, just took me a while to find
Still need to mess with the headlights as I have a main and dipped headlights on opposing sides, fun to watch but not ideal The bug is still alive too, new issues daily, but easy fixes
Had a bit more productiveness, Got the indicator and light controls mounted Cheers for that JamesLey Had to straighten out the side pods a bit (second hand and repo ) These flys are taking the ******* now, Had to repaint the rear door, had some bad reactions break through, that was last year and the weather was not favourable Had a visit from the Goodyear blimp while painting Tailgate is on (yes, he’s still used as a shed ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Front hinged roof is off, time for some love Had to make a few repairs, nothing too major Had another visitor, he landed behind my garden in the school field, (Another stabbing, thankfully not a serious one) Next is to figure out what I’m missing on the inside, Some timber at the front is missing as are anything that should hold it down. Should they be the rubber toggle things? Also should there be another bracket up front, in the centre?
Started on the luggage rack too, this was pretty bad, couldn’t spray filler this one as the stuff I used on the larger part of the roof clogged my gun up , a good 6 coats of high build primer on this, still not perfect but in keeping with the rest of the bus Spare time and weather never seem to go hand in hand. Todays solution was a string up car cover spray booth Seals are on the way from JK Are these fixed to the roof with rivets or self tappers? Next job is to get the bus out of the garage to fit seals and scrapers to the drivers door Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
