  4. I love investigating and going around abandoned buildings. You often find someone has kicked down the door or broken a window meaning you can gain access.

I'm not advocating it but I have to come across any homeless people or crack addicts.

    I'm just nosey I guess

  5. I love going out with the dog and coming across old industrial sites that have long since been abandoned and nature has reclaimed - places like old quarries, gravel pits or mine workings - fantastic!!!
    ^-^

  6. You should have a look at this, I discovered this website a whole ago. I should warn you, it's a bit of a long read:

There's lots of this stuff going on. I think some of the Urban Exploration lot managed to get into Longbridge before it was flattened, and found cars near the end of the production line that were about 90% complete and had just been left where they were at the end of the last day of work.

  13. Hi Rickyrooo. I have an abandoned station (Highgate overground) and tube line (the Northern Heights), so have an interest in the former life of the underground. There are a few sites on the net that you can find some great info and history. check this out for starters....

    http://underground-history.co.uk/front.php

You can see some old underground buildings above ground and the site of some old ones while on the trains. Occasionally there are tours of some old sites. Earlier this year there was the chance to visit Bull AND Bush station (that never actually opened as a station) and was apparently a war bunker in the 2nd world war. Churchill spent some time there. Unfortunately I was away when the tour took place. They occasionally open Aldgate tube also which is often used for film and TV purposes.

Another place in the south that has an interesting story is here.....

It is a great area to visit in the bus and some superb campsites and scenery are around.

Great stuff guys, glad it's not just me that's a bit wierd.... i used to work at Lucas's at Fradley which is an old WW2 aircraft base there were a lot of Australians stabled there in the war and we used to allow tours round years ago, sadly Lucas finished with the site in the 2000's and i can't go back now which is a shame because when i was there for 13 years in my teens and 20's i had no interest......keep up the posts i'm gonna have some reading to do later.

  15. Oh yes, here are a few more in the south. Orford Ness on the Suffolk coast where they 'conducted secret military tests during both world wars and the Cold War. The Atomic Weapons Research Establishment had a base on the site, used for environmental testing.'

Another bit of (older) history which is specific to the south of England and other countries around the world is here....

Then there are these that look like something from Star Wars!!!!

as much as i'm not keen on trespass, there are some fantastic photos on these sites, the people who explore and don't actually vandalise are i suppose doing no harm, but i would be scared to death of having an accident and being trapped or injured.
