ok cheers, my knowledge of battery technology is limited, basically my van was winding over slowly and on a cold morning struggling to start because of this - i'm assuming because the fuel injection system likes a nice healthy voltage to kick it in, i was just thinking bigger battery equals more turning over power in the morning but it does seem malc's battery is in effect smaller than mine? and also unless mine is shafted then it's daft to swap them over? maybe i need to get mine drop tested?

  2. Malc's battery may be smaller than yours when they were both new, but might not be now. One way to find out, stick it on and see it turns over

  3. The FI system needs just over 9v so while it does need a bit more than usual it's not usually too restrictive.

If its a cold day you might want to check the FI cold start valve.

  4. i dont think the problem is starting it is the slow turn over of the engine.

i reckon your battery is shot Ricky, you have the volts but not the amps left in that battery, get a new one and you will be amazed at the difference.

just found the reciept from the battery in america 6 year warranty and purchased feb 2010..... it seems unlikely it's shot but i ain't gonna take it back  i've got it on charge but i reckon it's probably duff - unless the starter is lazy i guess? i'll clean up earths and wires on the starter and re-fit before i buy a new one just to make sure.

  6. more likely it is a 2 year warrantly and then pro rated for the next 4 years, so if it failed at year 5 you would get a percentage of a new battery. find somewhere that can do a drop test on it and see how many amps are left in it.

My Kia one was only kicking out about 50% of what it should have been.

ok cheers, to be fair i could do with an old battery in my shed to power a radio so i'll probably just get an 096 and use the van one in the shed i think... no rush though, the warmer it gets the easier it starts, the less i use the lights- you know?
