Yes and no; works just about well enough to demist the screen within two to three miles but no heat from anywhere else. By the time the 'heat' has hit the screen its then cold when it reaches your face!
Do most of you who have good heating have a type 4 motor? anyone with a type 1 have good heating? understand that the type 4 heat exchangers are better and the older ones are also known as fresh air heat exchangers, is that for a reason? I have improved mine somewhat by sealing up leaky joints and wiring open one of the heat exchangers that did not have the correct arm. Yet to go on a long journey, but it should be acceptable, need to insulate next, the pipes underneath first then stop drafts from the louvre windows and sliding door seal.
Yes, mine is a type 4, I must also add that most of the heater parts on mine are brand new as was the motor, so very little wear.
not fully tested the heating in the winter due to resto but in the so called summer it was blasting red hot 8)
My prototype bay 1.6 gets quite warm It helps to have good door seals and make sure the fresh air vents are sealing properly otherwise any heat gets killed by the drafts.
Lola heats up well after a few miles, just get an almighty draught from the drivers door, as it had an argument with a signpost a few years back...the signpost won
Isn't stock heating a pair of gloves and wooly hat. :shiver: :shiver: :shiver: I find it works better if you pre warm them on the heater first.
It has always work...but literally like a breath of warm air on your hands. But it has just been sorted so once we pick the bus up I'll see what it's now like.
We have lost pressure in ours and have checked everything is connected up in the engine bay. Would love to get our heating top notch. You can get a device called a squirrel fan or something that you can add near engine bay that blows the warm air faster.
I find the standard fan does the job well enough. Its just a case of working your way along the whole system and looking for leaks, checking the pods are doing their jobs and that the fan ducts are all connected. My heat exchangers are not in any way good condition but the heat those bad boys produces makes driving uncomfortable in even the coldest temperatures. I spent £60 and 2 days over last winter replacing the cables and ducts. This winter sees a new pod going in and then she will be back to near factory standards
Do all type 4 have that little fan on top of the engine to push the hot air through or was it an optional extra, mine has one I think that it is this that makes mine so effective?
