That looks a bit (very) different from Bay ones I've seen before Ken. I think that before you commit to buying a canvas for it, you'd be wise to do some homework and check it is actually a bay window roof. If not the canvas you get might not fit it. These were fitted to Landrovers, Bedford vans and all sorts...

Here's mine - this is like all the others I've seen and was personally hacked off a Dormobile VW camper...

  9. Check the radius profile of the roof (side to side). Dormobile made more than one VW profile ie one to suit the splittie and another to suit the late bay. As a guide the later unit will fit on the early by cutting away material but the other way round may only fit by building it up.

I'd say as yours has already been on a camper you don't have too much to worry about (as long as it actually fitted that van properly), but the canvas may be different. You can see why I've been pummeling you for info! I've had my arse bitten before fitting bits together that weren't made to...

It could simply be that Dormobile carried on doing other vehicles after the Germans stopped making bays and the general design (ie one opening vent and you said it had headlining inside) got updated. If it's a little narrower it might even be better as the originals tended to block the gutters. Who knows???

I'll answer the last question - Dormobile may be able to help. It's not the original company, someone bought the name and rights and ressurected it, but I found him to be extremely helpful. I bought some seals and hinges from him and he chucked in a load of second hand opening vent parts that were missing on mine for free.

If you get the right canvas for the ROOF rather than the camper, they are made with extra round the bottom to pull tight, fix down, then cut off so will no doubt work out. After all, you have the strips, you're making hole to suit the frame etc. So long as it isn't wider than the bus it should be do-able - the end profiles can always be adjusted if they haven't already been, it's hard to tell from the pics.

The other thing to look out for would be whether the angle iron frame at front and back are the right profile for your roof - the landrover looks quite different...
