Teams often do this when they have a penalty so they only take the one race worth of penalties Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
Yep…. Farce! He’s also trimmed out the rear wing to try and clear the field up to the Mercs. Wouldn’t be surprised if nakita hasaspin comes up against max crash-happen in the opening laps and has an early bath!
Oh, this sport is sooooo boring, sooooo predictable, soooooo dull. Gutted for Lando missing out on his maiden victory, he’s been so good all weekend, but Ham just showing his class and experience
Shame Lando didn’t listen to his team, but they did leave it up to him to make a decision, so near yet so far from his first win. Lewis did what his team told him to do. Good ‘race’ from Max from last to second. I’ve been watching the racing from Goodwood - old cars, half the speed and twice the excitement of current F1.
yep, agree on all of that. such a shame for lando but he still got points (and fastest lap) and big learning experience. if he'd changed to inters when the team told him he'd have won. Max to 2nd from last was pretty awesome too- he make the perfect call timing-wise with final move to inters to that helped jump him up on the last few laps. As a damage-limitation exercise (3 place grid penalty plus engine change penalty out of the way) and still came away with 18 points for 2nd place - could be deciding factor in the championship. I love goodwood - been many times and yes its great to watch - i just don't get the excitement the same though watching it on youtube. Have to say though although there some who disagree i know, the sochi race was epic and i was on the edge of my seat right up to the end
Not me, i used the tongue in cheek emoji! I did Goodwood Revival for the first time last week and that was also epic! did have to resort to YouTube after to catch up on the action as the mrs wasn't going to sit and watch every race! We did watch the Mini's from start to finish and they were awesome!
I’ve never been to Goodwood despite living down south for 30 years, now it’s about 1,100 kms away and I guess it’s one of those events you have to book a year in advance and struggle to find anywhere close to park/camp. Le Mans is much closer and the classic event is next year.
Lots of parking on site, lots of available camping in the surrounding villages (it’s term time) Tickets were available until a few weeks before. Mine were a freebie via work, which was a very nice win, but sent us into a “where do we get vintage clothes from” panic 3 days before the event!!
So, Max on target for the championship? I was expecting a Mercedes to win in Austin based on previous years - but even with a fantastic (or lucky based on your point of view) pass on turn one it was clear that Red Bull had a car that was quicker and Lewis even driving at his best could not stay with it. I got excited as Lewis closed the gap in the last few laps but only realised afterwards that Max was probably managing his tyres at that point, letting Lewis close up but retaining some good life in his tyres to be able to hold him off through to the end of the race. I think the final races are going to be super close, impossible to call, but i'm feeling its looking more like Max's championship this year?
I think you are correct much as I hate to admit it - never have liked Max's style but has definitely got speed
I hope it's not... I'd like Lewis to take this one, be done with the records and then take the foot off the gas a bit and open up next years championship. The change in the technical regs for next year will be a curve ball and Mercs advantage may be over. I hope there will then be a chance for Max, Lando, LeClerc to all step forwards and have a wide open championship. Back to this year, I think Mercs have the championship experience to nick it at the last race. There messing around with Bottas's engines and I'm not convinced it's because he needs them!
what a fab race weekend - love interlagos lewis making up 25 places due to penalties to take the win - just fantastic. possibly best race of the season so far? we even had controversy over the lap 48 overtake attempt - max clearly made no attempt to turn into the corner, preferring to run straight on an force lewis even further off the track. I'm in two minds on this though, whilst i think its a clear breach of the rules ("manoeuvres liable to hinder other drivers, such as deliberate crowding of a car beyond the edge of the track .. are strictly prohibited" is what the rule says) i also think that drivers should be winning by racing, not winning by getting stewards to intervene. The antics and perception of unfair application of rear wing tolerance rules definitely helped fire up the mercedes team and lewis in particular - he does really well when he's on a mission 3 races to go - could be either one of them claiming this championship
Certainly more watchable than a possession because everybody is too afraid to overtake. I would say he needed a black and white flag but that’s it.
Great racing very entertaining makes it worth watching. Let’s see if Mercedes can keep the pace up in the final few races, now the new engine is run in
He got one It will certainly make the last few races interesting for a change. Fabulous drive from Lewis, Max pushing the "antics" envelope
