  4. We are very  that when someone has tried to help other members of a club with an opportunity to purchase something that, they may not normally be able to afford, that it has opened up such a argueable debate, especially in a classified ad. The OP hasn't even had a chance to reply yet to those that are interested.

It is up to us as individuals whether we feel the quality and price is what we are happy with, we wouldn't commit to purchasing if we weren't.

It is a common saying that we get what we pay for, however is the reason that the OP can get these at a decent price in the first place, not to do with the [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow] they are getting a bulk order placed at once, its also quite a common saying that buying in bulk is also a cheaper option. A good quality engineering shop can make a fantastic job of a fabrication job like this, without having as bigger overheads as perhaps larger VW Parts suppliers, (who probably make a rather large mark up on custom products) and therefore can do it cheaper.

Oh and as to the security, was just wondering whether we should perhaps be welding up our doors now and welding mesh over the windows. :)) Lets be honest if someone wants to get into a vehicle they will, and 70's vehicles are hardly the most difficult to get in.

We certainly look forward to seeing more information on them and hope the OP hasn't been put of by all the replies on here that aren't really relevant to a classified ad. :( ::) :buttkick:

  8. The creative engineering one selling for £350+ is a different product than the Bluebird Customs one as advertised in this thread. The more expensive version has a chrome fame and it is the frame itself that opens, far wider. The glass opens on this Bluebird window. There is no chrome frame and that is why presumably there is a price difference. You cannot assume in this case that cheap means inferior as they are two differently designed, manufactured products.

Can any comments from this point on be made with regard to peoples interest in the product rather than a discussion about whether or not to buy. :)

  14. As I recall, the bluebird customs design was very similar to the Britax sunroof in principle...a toughened glass panel drilled thru and hinged, with an overlatching mechanism to pull the glass against the seal when closed. It looks a lot neater than other designs, in my opinion, but as we all know, opinions are like a***holes...we all have one!
Regarding the costs...I could design one, source a suitable seal, get the glass ground, shaped and tempered, locate the other parts and then get it fabbed up... it'd no doubt set me back a good few quid...and a good few hours...so much so that I'd probably think twice about it...and then not bother! The whole point is, I don't have to...somebody has already done all the head scratching and hard work, many moons ago, and made a good product as a result....whether they flew off the shelves or not or were better than others on the market is kind of irrelevant...
Essentially...If you'd like one, and we generate enough interest, Foxy has said he'll produce them again...you're paying for his design, market knowledge, labour, time and hassle...not just the glass and rubber O0

  15. :)

    I'd be interested too..

  16. and me to

  18. I'm interested in 1

  19. OK...so without wishing to pre empt anything, it seems like there's enough interest to justify taking things further. If Bluebird was to do a limited production run based on pre-orders, who'd be willing to stump up?
I can't see Foxy wanting to pay up front to have a batch made up, based on potential, only to have them gathering dust at a later date. So if you'd like one, add your name to this thread so I can let him know how many to make...unless anyone can think of an alternative

and please remember...there's nothing in this for me...just the opportunity to buy something that I've been after for ages for a decent price ;D
