Hi, Friday night rant but prices for some of these spares are ridiculous ! I thought this was meant to be a site for the enthusiast .In a former life i sold Renault 4 spares and was registrar for the owners club and in all those years i was never turned down or knocked on prices .
To use Vanorak superb quote regarding prices on items recently advertised for a staggering high price .
'are they hand delivered by Angelina Jolie in basque and stockings? they ought to be at that price '

I realise the moderater may remove this thread or relocate it to a more suitable but wold love other people opinions on this please .

  2. ? what prices, ?? advertised here?

  3. Ah... I understand now you modified your post...

These items are hell to get hold of, as they where only ever fitted to Delux models..

The seller has said he is open to offers, so offer him what you think they are worth... One item of his is listed on eBay for a lot more, by a different seller... Bigrich is almost 50% cheaper...??

They may be hell to get hold of but that does not justify these overinflated prices .I have a Westfalia Toaster grille pan in good condition which i would happily sell to a fellow enthusiast for £18 including the postage .This i would say is a fair price but check out some of the prices of items for sale in the classified .

  5. I need another crumpet toaster.... Whats your paypal address

  6. Not sure what this is all about but if something seems expensive to me, I won't buy it! Simples.

  7. think it's regarding my posts.
i have a stash that i'm trying to sell to raise funds for some engine stuff i need ,i checked out prices on evilbay and thought the prices were fair compared to them. i am open to offers even from angelina jolie!

All the parts are no longer available new.

please everyone be aware these are my personal items for sale and do not have anything to do with cool air (where i work)

    spose you cannot please everyone

  9. Items are worth what people are willing to pay.

Why do you think campers are worth so much? Because the hard to get parts are so dear

These parts are not rare this is a mass produced vehicle .Parts for a Squire or a Buggatti Royale are rare .The VW parts scene is like the Diamond industry [Loads out there but price is overinflated].
People pay what they wish or advertise them for whatever price they think they are worth but in the longterm this will not do the scene or the genuine enthusiast any good.
The price of campers in the last 6 years have gone through the roof allowing freshly painted shiney wrecks to be sold to very keen but green buyers.More 'specialist' VW restorers seem to appear and then dissappear all at the expensive of the owners .
Simple answer is pay a fair price for parts and buses and this will stop the greed element .

  12. Genuine original parts will always command a good price not because of greed on the part of the vendor more a case that many of the "new" pattern parts widely available are overpriced and in the main very poor quality. Market forces and all that.....

  13. As fritt said a lot of the repo parts are bad quality and the main reason the prices have soared is because it's a new craze to own a bus (again) the prices will drop.

  14. Compaired to some french made body parts that are being recalled {front bumpers ::)} i thinkz our bodiz partz are sooooz cheapz and Zay ar svery vell made!!

  15. Prices merely reflect the rarity and availability of parts. For example, I recently bought the sliding door mechanism for an RHD bus (left hand side door). It's a genuine VW part (forget reproductions, they're a waste of time). My memory isn't great but I think it cost about £380. I had to wait a month before it got sent from Germany. The same part for an LHD bus (right hand side door) costs about £175 and is always immediately available. That's merely because there's a lot more LHD buses than RHD and VW of course don't make that many now for RHDs.

That's just the way it is. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. ;) Or buy yourself a T4.

  17. if i sell something i generally want to get the most i can for it !! go figure .....
The prices have steadily been rising for the last 20 years and thats just the way it is .
I can`t really see them falling any time soon as they would have done during the last 2 years if they were going to ...Makes it more fun hunting out the `bargain`

  19. It would be nice though if some of the repro stuff was of quality rather than bought in cheap from China / Malaysia and sold for stupid money here. From what I've observed it would appear that an attitude of take it or leave it is endemic in the parts supply chain....afterall there will be another mug along soon. They either have no idea of the product they sell, though there are often statements alluding to enthusiasts etc, or they're taking the pee. I struggle to believe which it is.
So anyone selling genuine VW stuff is going to ask as much as they think the market will stand. It does sound a little odd selling secondhand /old stock for more than the cost of new but when the new is overpriced and poor quality it is the greed at that end that skews the market not the guy selling off the good stuff.

    Okay stand easy...rant over. ;D

however when someone buys up all the cheap parts and sells them for double or triple i think is wrong.
    I blame maggie
