Maybe, just maybe that's because of Covid?

  4. Gave up on the brakes as it’s too wet and cold and got Stuart at Oil Droppers to do them.
Now back working in tip top condition
It’s good to be able to stop and do hill starts again without worrying who you going to run into
He even went to fit the NOS thermostat on the new engine only to find that mechanic that rebuilt it had already fitted a new one already. Very weird, given that he told me I needed to get one… oh well it was the last engine I think he built so maybe he just bunged on one he found in his workshop

  5. It's winter time too and worse than the cold, there's lots and lots salt all over the roads, well there is here, not good for old cars.

I think I added a few trips back in august / September.

Ordered a new starter battery. Got to the point where I don't like spending money on my van but it's going to cost quite a lot just to get it up to selling standard. Bodywork and lower half repaint, new leisure battery for starters.
Think I'll put the old distributor back and sell the 123, put the stock exhaust back and sell the shiny one, uninstall the AFR gauge and sell that too. These things won't get it a better price. Then spend the money on a new pair of heat exchangers no doubt as the skins on my refurbed originals are rusting away like nobodies business - that's what you get for year round use and car park storage, you really need these to be garaged these days. :(

  11. Loaded him up with more 1960s doors and other crap, off to the dump. Then loaded him up with a Christmas tree.

Then went for his usual spin around Jack's Bush. He just purrs along. I've almost forgiven him for the front steps rotting through (again).

That was nice - 9 months sat in the car park since last started - new battery, 1st turn of the key, 3rd or 4th compression and started up smoothly on all cylinders. Let it idle for 20 minutes to blow the condensation out of the heater pipes and all seems well. :)

  13. Sad you’re selling your van, Steve :(

Me too, but it's got to go, I can't justify a rusting money eater that I don't use.

  15. Have you got other transport?

    Yes, a boat.
Seriously though, I've changed my lifestyle and while it might be convenient to have "wheels" I don't need them. Not using the van makes me live differently and look at life from a different perspective that I like.

The trip to Tesco must be interesting.:)

  18. Fit it with hydroplanes and a 200hp Mercury

My neighbour used to do just that! Took him all day with 5 locks each way - it's quicker just to walk, it's only 2-3 miles each way. Much easier too - my crew does it for the exercise. I haven't been in Tesco since last March.

Play paused at third layer down and a few more to go, but with great advice from @mcswiggs I'm slowly getting there. Who knew that sanding was so knackering, but maybe doing this the day after my booster jab was not the best idea I've ever had :)
