  1. No. Crust is due to water getting under paint.

  3. Have you got a exhaust heat shield fitted?

  4. Sad, but true:(

  5. Other side is epoxy-masticked, so quite sound, surprisingly. Will be plated tho'

Yep its the five laminated layers of rust protected by paint and steel. By the time you are done there should be a big hole there..

  7. I don’t have a heat shield but have wondered about them.
On researching they seemed to only be for Type 4s.
When mine’s back together it will be a Type 1 with a Vintage Speed Sport.

The old exhaust was a Frankenstein DIY twin Yamaha R1 muffler setup (by the PO).

Brushed the crud off my gear box earth strap and sprayed some Plusmax on bolts...let's see if they can be undone later and then strap cleaned to make sure earth is OK.

Cleaned the camper ready for a camping weekend. Also took the dog for a walk before it got too hot.

Completed both tasks before the daughter left for work at 7:30am...... she did give me some strange looks and grunted some unintelligible comment as she passed by me to get in her car........I just smiled/grinned at her as I know it annoys her.

The dogs now chilling on the sofa infront of the fan merrily 'blowing off' whilst I try and eat my cornflakes.

Swapped the headlamp flasher relay for a nice new Meyle one, as it was reported at the MOT that it was temperamental on selecting or cancelling main beam from the dipped headlamp position (also occasionally flashing the headlamps with it in sidelight or headlamps off position would toggle main beam for later ) .

Stripped it down to take a look inside - a tiny bit of damp but a PO had rebuilt it at some stage (not me !!) with solder around the place. It was all a bit rattly and surprising it worked at all.

Tried to crack the ball joints on the track rod ends nearside. Decided my 35 year old Halfords splitter wasnt going to hack it, so ordered a nice Kennedy one from Cromwell Tools. And a sheet metal nibbler and a floor standing fan for Shirley (to sweeten spending money on tools ? ) .

Does the new Meyle headlamp relay have the same terminal layout as the originals, Mike?

Before I go searching online, does anybody have a spare end clip for the door pull? As you can see mine has broken :(

  18. Parked it up after the usual adventure - just short of 500 miles paying my final respects at the funeral of a good friend .
It seemed taking the van was a good idea as we'd had some great road trips when I lived up there and catching up with a few of the old racing lot was a giggle.
    He'd have love it...
