An all purpose warning sign. As the tsunami barrels towards the coast, a man in uniform with a helmet will come with a marker pen and fill in the right circle. I’m just disappointed there is no Godzilla option.
Still at it, today we’re in Takayama, in the mountains, moving on tomorrow. The schedule can be gruelling at times with early starts, but that’s better than seeing nothing and not going anywhere much. We went to a cat cafe today, but passed on the insect museum yesterday.
Snow monkeys and Nagano temple today, Mount Fuji tomorrow, weather permitting but the forecast is good, it was 26 degrees today! Not bad for spring. The cherry blossom is fresh here, we’ve had it everywhere so far.
You seen the price of fruit? Berries, melons and mangoes? https://www.smh.com.au/traveller/in...shop-quite-like-this-one-20240329-p5fg6w.html
We’re in Tokyo now for the last couple of days, I recognised some parts of the Tokyo expressway from Gran Turismo on my PlayStation. Woke up to Mount Fuji this morning from our hotel window. Not seen many classics since the Bentleys early on, saw a pan head Harley chop this afternoon though. I couldn’t live here, so many social rules, and individuals are not encouraged. There’s a driving school on the roof of a building across the road from our hotel..
Bush tucker trial menu in our Tokyo bar tonight, each one is another meal for camp. The sake was good though, I had a hot one and a cold one. We’ve learned that like in France, if you sit at the bar, you don’t get charged as much again as a service charge.
Today in Tokyo, we went to a couple of Royal parks, and the world’s second most famous zebra crossing
This is all so cool. For those that want more, Japan and surrounding islands are on race across the world on BBC at the moment. Episode 2 has just aired.
Penultimate day in Japan, today we went out on a market, saw our last temple, had dinner in a restaurant under a busy railway line, then went up the Skytree, like Blackpool tower on steroids the highest tower in the world as far as we know. Tomorrow we are visiting a planetarium, and an aquarium the. Off to the airport. The return trip is scheduled at 21 hours including a layover, the good news is it’s all by A380, the bad is that it’s via Dubai, which has been doubling as a water park this week.
Final night in Tokyo, a bit of a booze cruise on the river. Next week I must have another go on the PlayStation at Tokyo Expressway on GT7, to see which bits I recognise. A380s for both flights on the way home, nice and quiet, I’ll see if I can watch a couple of movies if I can’t sleep. Let’s hope that they’ve sorted out the water park that was Dubai airport. I’ll post some last pics later if I’ve finished packing.
