I used to fish the local rivers into my early twenties, then moved to a City and sold / lost most my kit

I still have a rod and reel somewhere, and live in the sticks again, so must whip it out and dangle my maggot again!

  6. I'm big into carp fishing. I've fished for them by design for over twenty years. I'm a member of a couple of colne valley syndicate waters and used to fish in France a bit as well. I've been a field tester for a couple of bait companies over the years.

  11. Only for salmon and sea trout matty.
Dedicated fluff chucker here, trout ,grayling, pike, you name it. Even having a go at coalies and pollack off the rocks next summer with the fly. Saying that, its fun to get out with the spinners piking and bassing though, and I like to chuck half a mackerel at the river crocs too now and again. Would love to go catting, but not many waters stocked up here.
Winter codding around Whitby is tops, ropes, big seas and cliffs, chucking 6oz of lead and enough crab and squid to keep tiddles happy for a week, tops!
BTW if this weekend thing takes off, I'm happy to give anyone who'd like, a quick casting lesson with the fly. Got plenty of rods to go around.

  15. Or could go for the Yearbook option, join a club for 40 notes or so and it lasts the year.
Up around here for instance, not that I'm saying to have it up here, but just as an example of what may be available in your own areas.

Might be an idea, that sort of thing and for anyone not local, could go on the day ticket waters.

  17. I fished their stretch of the Avon late last year and was great. You can drive the camper right onto the pegs and 24hrs costs £10. Can't vouch for the lakes as ive never fished them. Selfishly this would be great for me as its under 1 hours drive from where I live.
