Alex I know what everyone is thinking but are too afraid to ask so I’ll do it, here goes, wish me luck everyone..............wasn't there any men around to do it ? I’m off
How the hell did you get away with saying you would employ the use of a wheelie bin as access in your written risk assessment ? As a largish electrical contractor obviously we have to tow the line with H&S and it’s yours truly that has to ensure our compliance - not the best person with my attitude to my own safety ( I’d have done the same as you here @Merlin Cat ) Anyway , we are currently moving office over this next two days , we caught the managing director up on the top step of some Ladders yesterday taking down a tv .. we gave him some stick - quite rightly He replied ‘ I’m not going to sue myself am?’ Which in one statement explains why we have all this h&s over the topness
Blimey Alex! Hope you’re ok and it’s not too painful today, you daft bugger x Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yikes! More care needed (I would’ve done the same ) Glad you got away with it! Hope you’re not too achy this morning.
Phew! Bit achey today but not too bad all things considered Was a bit worried how I’d be this morning as a fella that used to go in our local had been a butcher and was now in a wheelchair. I asked him how come. He said he had lifted something one day that felt a bit heavy but ok. Went to bed that night, was paralysed waist down when he woke up!! How dreadful is that? Fortunately I’m just more stiff and achey than usual
Ok. Now we’ve heard you are ok can we call you stoopid? We were all far too polite and worried about you yesterday. I’ll kick things off. You gert great fool!!!!!
I find the lid of the wheelie bin to be the culprit in most instances.....you think it's solid and then it goes with a 'twang' and collapses! If you place the foot more to one side it a much better surface to use. With regard to loft access, I find a suitably short ladder means more use of the upper arm/shoulder muscles to drag my lardy arse through the hatch...thus avoiding expensive Gym membership as I'm getting a free workout whilst working.
Hard luck and hope you’re ok today. Let the sun get some heat into your back. (BTW “wheel”ie bin...) I had triple-fold solid wood Victorian window shutters in my first house, covered in peeling paint. So I got a ladder and started freeing and unscrewing all the old screws holding it in place. But stupidly I started from the bottom. So when I was at ceiling height, one arm round the folded shutters to support them, I undid the final screw... It’s amazing how heavy a pile of wood can be when it lands on top of you on the floor...
Bazza, be carefull when you answer the door later and if you get a call out to somewhere strange check it out first
