After countless trips to see early bays, one scam and several let downs, I gave up on the pre 1973 models and have today put a deposit on a 1976 camper, collect tomorrow from Harlow in Essex to bring home to Rainham, Essex. Hoping you guys (and gals) can help me out when I need it. Been after a van for quite some time now that my urge for tattoos has rescinded and my daughter wants something for me to bring her surfboard home from uni in bournemouth in. Cheers
The van was cheaper than my budget but had been reduced to sell as the seller has more vans coming in and needed the space. New paintwork and sweet running engine. Can use as is but will do something with the interior straight away to introduce the wife to the world of vw campers. Just need to agree the name yet....................

Okay - got it, insured it, driven it home down the M11/M25 - pretty smooth ride. Too dark for pictures until the weekend. Last MOT in October 2011 mentions serious bodywork corrosion but did not spot any and have not spotted any (Van has been in bodyshop and resprayed since). She's booked in with VW Down Under in Fobbing, Essex at the weekend for them to giver her the once over and a service - needs a brake and indicator light and a couple of window rubbers. Still a bit nervous in case there's something serious I didn't see . Fingers crossed.
