Right, heres some more pics - not sure if these should be in this thread or in the "show us your ride" thread but hey ho.... She's been to VW Downunder and the prognosis is as follows; Full Service, Replace clutch, Replace all fuel lines, Replace all rear brakes inc cables, Replace full exhaust system, Replace clutch cable kit, Steering Idle pin kit, four new tyres – fitted and balanced, brake light switch, N/s/r backing plate, O/s/r backing plate, rear Engine mounts, steering coupling. This little lot is being done this week. Other issues that can wait a bit are; Excessive end float, O/s/f chassis rail starting to rot, Ball joint boot split o/s, Holes around o/s seat belt, N/s chassis small hole, N/s/f inner front panel rotten, Hole by n/s/f seat belt mount, N/s ball joint gaitor split, O/s/r chassis rail starting to rot, O/s/r chassis rail holes by bumper, N/s/r chassis rail holes by bumper, Outter CV gaitor about to split. Once she is back we'll be giving her a thorough interior clean up before I start work on the interior which will stay roughly in the same layout but will be rebuilt. Got just enough cash left to make the back livable and get a stereo put in. At least I can now take her out without worrying about anything collapsing on me. Funny how the MOT in November didn't mention any of these issues, hmmmmmm!!! Anyway more importantly she has been named - we wanted a 1960s- 1970s name and the wife decided on "kitty" partly due to the mum character from "That 70's Show" and partly due to the "soft kitty" song as sung to lull The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper to sleep. Window sticker ordered.
booked the day off to collect the van from its week of repairs only to get a call at 1600 to tell me its not ready and wont be today. when putting in a new handbrake cable they've discovered that the handbrake pipe has been mangled as a result of some previous welds so they have to make a new pipe. I know they're doing a proper job but its soooooo frustrating as I've had it for two weeks now and still haven't been able to do anything with it. Mrs Mabel hasn't even been in it and she beginning to wonder where our money's gone. )
Went to pick up Kitty this morning only to find she wouldn't start . Shes been fine all week but just stopped working this morning. Shes had new fuel lines and they are clear - Anyways, VW Downunder think that the fuel sender unit that the previous owner had put in her didn't have the sticker taken off it and as a result of it coming off in the tank it has sunk to the bottom and blocked the line. They have kept her and are sorting it so hopefully she will be home during the week......

Shes due back in the morning. After taking the sender unit out to find the sticker, they also found a chunk of pipework in the fuel tank. Roll on the weekend when I can finally, finally, finally get to work on gutting her. Have to say VW Down under have been great, they're delivering her to me rather than me having to go down there and collect.
