Paras bus resto

  1. I've been looking at my wiring loom and it's been chopped into to add a relay for some reason
What circuit does the yellow and black wire feed?

  2. From memory black and yellow is headlamps, horn or wipers I think.

  3. What number fuse in the board does it trace back to?

  4. I've not got that far into it yet
I think I'm going to have to get a large board and pin it all out
The relay doesn't seem to be feeding anything so I may just remove it and join the wiring back together

  5. Black with a yellow stripe terminates at the headlamp plug so I'm guessing the relay fed spot lamps at some point in the past
If that's the case I'll need to keep it but tidy it up better

  11. Just out of interest, is that acid dip lifting paint too?

  12. Yes it seems to soften and lift a fair bit of it

  13. When my van was restored in 2002 they acid etched all the welds and seams, before primer and then painting. Paint still looks good 14 years on. Could be worth finding out more about it, for long lasting restos/paint jobs.

  15. Acid etch primer is used over bare metal
It bites into the steel to provide a secure foundation for the next coat of primer
The acid dip I'm using is to eat away corrosion and leave bare steel behind
