  2. I will have grey with rivets please.

  3. Grey for me - I have no trace of an original disc.

  4. Cool, dont need one just poking my nose in as i have been buying decals for a few weeks and found these the best over using those with spare material

Didn't think about people just using them as sticker, just thought it would be them better way to restore the original posters badge to look like a badge

I didn't find the die cut much more expensive as an individual item might be worth pinging the image off to find out

Whichever you have made you can buy metal discs in most sizes ebay iron mongers ect if anyone was in need of a disc for it to go on

  5. Have asked the printers whether they do die cut vinyl stickers for the two option below:-

    a) Clear background, so that the text and image can be applied to the original painted 3" Badge.

    b) Grey background, with 9mm centred holes, so that the 3" Badge Sticker can be applied over an original painted 3" Badge, to make it look factory fitted and remove the difficulty of putting a vinyl sticker over the existing protruding rivets (although you will have to remove the paint off these rivets very carefully if you want it to look original.

Those who have lost the original badge would have a vinyl sticker that looks like the original badge, complete with rivets, and therefore do not require die cut vinyl as such, although the badge might end up being supplied pointlessly on die cut vinyl due to economy in ordering a mixed batch of ~150 in the three design options.

Pretty sure there's no sign of my van ever having a metal Devon disc, but I'd like a grey vinyl copy with rivets please :)

  7. Printer now on holiday until 4th July, so there will be a delay in getting a die cut quote.

Based on the numbers we need at least one more person to want a badge sticker before we can submit an order, but the next two weeks might produce a lot more than that, and generate something for charity too.

Who 'controls' The Late Bay, and who would be 'Treasurer' for holding onto money for Charity, and how do we choose which Charity to support?

These might be questions that make assumptions on the structure of everything, and I don't wish to upset anyone by asking these questions, I just need to know where we stand is all.

  8. At this point, while the printer is away, I've contacted the Devon Motorhomes Owners Club AND Devon Conversions to explore any potential copyright issues.

Devon Motorhomes Owners Club has suggested that as they have permission to use the present Devon Conversions Logo, that there should not be any issue and that Devon Conversions is very likely give us written permission to continue this project.

Indeed, we may end up supplying the vinyl badges to owners of 1970s Devon Motor Caravans based on vans and minibuses made by other vehicle manufacturers, and raise more money for charity.

One thing to note is that Devon Motor Caravans have been made since 1956, and this is the 60th year of production, so if anyone knows of a 1956 VW Splitty Devon Conversion Camper Van, both the Devon Motorhomes Owners Club, and Devon Conversions themselves would be very pleased if the owner would make contact.

  9. That's an option, but it really needs to be 176 x 1.5mm, is there no-one that makes imperial, 3 x 1/16", especially after at least one butcher has started selling meat in pounds and ounces already, ha

I will have grey with rivets please.

  11. Haven't looked that hard really

Is that because the stickers that size?

I think those graphics die cut and put on one of these discs with rivit holes drilled would look quite genuine

  12. The Original Plaque is that size, and I think you're right, if someone is doing a restoration that would be the way forward, I'll be in contact with the printers on 4th July.

Thanks matty, I'll add you to the second list.

Had word back in a email from the current owners of Devon Conversions, who own the original copyright for the original badge.

    'Dear Wayne

We have no objection to you recreating the original badge. We would be happy for you organise & administer the whole operation

    Kind regards

    Peter Gowland'

  13. The Vinyl Printer got back to me, and the only option he can provide is for the design to have a metallic silver background, which would mean that the white within the Beaver Design would be metallic silver.

He couldn't even provide the design with images of pop rivets, and thinking about it, the location of pop rivets might be different on each van for those that have the original plate.

They also cannot die cut the design.

The company suggested we approach a screen printer instead, and there isn't one local to me, so is anyone local to a screen printer that can do the job?

To be honest I'm a little disappointed in the company local to me on this issue.

  14. Are these Devon badges hard to come by then ?

  15. Its probably going to be easier to make one up from scratch, a 76mm diameter x 1.5mm thick disc of galvanised steel / aluminium / plastic, and then apply a printed 75mm sticker from a screen printer (since they won't print white in vinyl), and then use an adhesive to stick it on the rear hatch.

No idea what the cost would be.

I'd forgotten about this thread until @Poptop2 tagged it for someone looking for a Devon conversions badge.
We never did get any further with this idea...
@DubCat any ideas? There's a good mock up of the Devon Conversions badge on page 1....

I had a quick skim read. Yes I can print it on white vinyl or create a grey background. I'd prefer the pdf artwork file if anyone has it. I could print on clear vinyl if somebody wants to buy me 50m roll! Die-cut stickers with screw holes, yes, no problem.

@brucieboy do you still have your artwork for this?
(A slightly hopeful request as he's not been seen on here for over three years, but you never know!)
