Yup I’ve ended up with three of them Which isn’t too bad considering. Tape on the inside and a smear of seam sealer on the outside will sort them.
Back on the van today I’ve prepped and painted the inside of the van where I had burnt the paint I’ve scotched up the outer section of the van and gave it another coat of rust beater paint I’ve cleaned up the inside of a rear bumper I bought and gave that a coat of rust beater paint.
Outside back to bare metal and a dusting of primer It’s a bit dented and bent underneath the filler and paint I’m torn between straightening it out the best I can and filling the dents Or just painting it as it is as it’s highly likely I’ll bend/dent it Myself The thing is it’s too cold and damp up here now to be doing bodywork in the workshop Id just be inviting rust in. Stuff like bumpers and other smaller bits I can paint then bring in the house in front of the wood burner So it keeps my mind focused on bus stuff
Got a diesel heater fitted to try and warm the gazebo up. It raised the temperature 5deg above ambient after 30 mins. I’m going to modify the casing so I can run a intake hose into the gazebo. That way it will be circulating hot air instead of heating cold air from outside. Hopefully this should raise the temperature a bit more.
Ok cheers matty I just took it slow and steady stopping once in a while to clean it out and let it cool off a bit.
@paradox ask the farmer where you keep it if he has red diesel for the heater, far cheaper if you can get it
Yup I’ve ran this one on heating oil which I think is kerosene I’ve a 1000 litre tank of it in the back yard which is helpful.
All the chinese heaters seem to run better on kerosene than on diesel for some reason even thought they're advertised as a diesel heater. Think its possibly the additives they don't like. Not sure about running it on red.
Had the heater running for 4 1/2 hours today and the temp maxed out at just under 20 deg I’m still going to modify it so it’s recirculating warm air from the gazebo as ambient temperature isn’t going to stay so high for long. It should also mean I won’t have to run the heater full throttle all the time.
