Picked up the new van on Saturday. It's flippin' huge!! Lots of work to do to make it as good as the last camper. Windows Rooflights Insulation Electrics......just for starters.
Gonna try and see if I can put a different double front seat in from a Toyota Estima - they have a built in swivel plate. I'm not keen on the swivel set up for the standard seats as you can't turn them without having to get out of the cab.
I love the seat type where the back support hinges from back to front, meaning there no swivel just a bench seat that can be used both ways
I looked at those sometime ago. They are as expensive as you would expect, but a great piece of engineering.
Not got far with anything yet. Life, work , hay fever (Heather), crappy couriers have got in the way. Received a broken £500 window, waiting for the replacement. Just got a swivel base delivered and deciding on which roof lights to buy - Maxxair fan looking likely.
Really enjoyed watching these videos https://youtube.com/@GregVirgoe He done a couple on roof fans. Worth checking out
At work we have about 40 of these vans on the fleet. Some are 4 years old now. Seem very reliable even with the extreme abuse they get.
Nerve-wracking day yesterday: Built a frame for the window Removed the support brace Measured about 4 times Drilled some corner holes Cut a hole Fitted a snazzy window Now it is starting to look like a camper.
He does some good videos, but I didn't agree with his fitting method. I went with Louise's tutorial - she seems to really think about how she installs things and then how to video and explain them. I have a feeling she used to do Exhibition installation, especially woodwork, so multi talented but modest. Swivel base for drivers seat and then roof/Sky Lights next - fitting two, one front and one back. Haven't decided on other windows yet.
And yes, Heather and I are wearing almost matching tops I used to work for an company that designed and built exhibitions and kept my tops for DIY work.
