It's all coming together quickly. It's going to slow down again when it gets back in my hands though I'm not looking forward to getting the engine back in and running I AM looking forward to making a new interior though - give me wood over metal any day
A trip up to drop the cab doors off, so grabbed a couple of snaps of the powder coated bits Some bits will be painted over the powder coat (obvs not the wheels or dash)
Replacement doors ahoy. The beige one has had the strengthening bars glued back in place and the hinges swapped (it's an earlier door). It fits nicely but will be stripped of paint to see what might be lurking, as it's had some work done at some point. The red one is in nice unmolested condition but doesn't fit so well because it's replacing a door that had been molested quite a lot, and it's on a corner that has seen some damage at some point in its history. Sandy is going to unpick / fix / fettle the new arch for a better fit on that side. Finally a little bit of paint on the underside repairs
Oh yes, I gave the petrol tank a coat of Rustoleum "Cast Iron" radiator enamel last weekend. Spruced up quite nicely, even though you'll never see it
The dude who sprayed my van put his initials and year on the petrol tank. You may as well sign your handiwork
Spare wheel carrier (aka a caravan sink if you remember that far back in the thread!) has the studs welded so they don't spin like the old bolts used to. Now prepped and reattached to the front panel. Body has been flatted and is ready for a bit of seam sealer before a proper coat of gloss in a couple of days time
Woohoo! The masking is off to reveal the full glory of the fresh paint. Some lovely reflections. Now begins the reassembly, and I'm quite glad it's not me doing it
