Help! The guy doing my resto has gone AWOL....

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Fronkjunior, Nov 15, 2011.

  1. I would be inclined to agree that he is about to do a runner. I wouldn't take a word of what he says as gospel.

You can't go busting the locks as it would be criminal damage. I would call the landlord and explain your concerns and you want to remove your property post haste, call your solicitor and do the same

November 15th you first posted about this. Really you are no further forward, still being given the runaround.
Whatever may, or may not have happened accident wise, this guy has no excuse not to engage with you now.
I think we are all giving you the same advice - do whatever you have to do to get your bus back, but take advice on the legality

  4. Id rather smash his door down and get a warning from the Police -

they wont arrest you for taking your bus back, at most will give you a slap on the wrists.

  5. Criminal damage, theft, trespass, unlawful entry. Shall I go on?

As I said call landlord, solicitor and police and explain what you want to do. If the police are there as witnesses they can't arrest you.

  7. What he said ^^^ if you get the landlord on board there won't be any issues/offences and the old bill won't get involved.

Yeah sounds like sensible advise. There's no sense getting yourself in hot water. Have you spoken to the police local to the guy in question? I'd hope they would be quite helpful, certainly worth a go. You must be so fed up and down about all this. Hope it's resolved soon for you.

  11. Ive been reading this thread on and of since the start and the best advice i have seen is report your bus stolen and tell plod where it is , its deemed to be stolen if you cant have it back as requested , Its your property, this guy is giving you crap if he broke his back its going to 6 months at least before he can work ,

Report it stolen if you want to get done for wasting Police time. It's not been stolen, he gave it to the bloke.

  13. I think this is civil matter and thus if you go down to the local station and explain I have a feeling they [the police] will put their feet back up, kettle back on, pizza out the oven and then leave it with you to sort other solution.

Not helpful but think you need to have balanced view.

For once agree [in part] with baysercher
