surely though, if 1 gaiter had perished, its worthwhile doing all four and making sure the job is done correctly?
speaking from experience do yourself a favour and get genuine VW BOOTS. vw heritage do em. i have had to replace mine twice in 3 years as crap quality and they were "german quality". apparently. the cheap ones just start perishing. really. they do cost far bit more though but you do get the bolts and grease.
The quote is to replace 2 split gaiters ??? Going to do a little shopping around to see how prices stack up... My preference is to do all 4, rather than repeat the work in a few weeks/months time.. So I'll see how the garage respond.... I'll look at VW Heritage and the other suppliers for the parts/kits
It was Rick who mentioned all four boots after the op had used boots in the plural . So its the ginger mingers fault as usual ;D
all of our track rod gaiters have perished as have the ball joint gaiters plus the steering draglink. This litle lot will be done over winter, fingers crossed!
Wow... Lovely banter going on here Apologies if my first post wasn't clear... :- TBH I'm a novice to Camper ownership and hadn't realised there were 4 on there... :-[ The help and advice on here is awesome.. And the banter makes interesting reading
banter or rick baiting...... it's all a game - some people do things well some bodge - your garage is bodging it, you can do that.....
Rick Baiting... Is that legal? Ha ha Hmm the more I'm reading and talking to people it certainly sounds like they are Think I will be going elsewhere for the work to be done..
Take it to brown unders garage in Rouge ly he will do it in a hour. You supply the bits - win win win
I'm confussed. Is this to do 2 or more boots?? Your saying the parts cost £15 and that you need the CV boots done?? And does this include VAT?? I'd also say get them to check the joints for wear. The price of a new joint it's exactly a lot. Personally I don't think that price is bad. It's a grim job and messy to boot. Sorry I couldn't not add that
