I added two new ones this morning too . Then I took the fluorescent strips and workings out of the ceiling lights and put LED strips in:)

The only two we’ve added are the Coventry and Oxford. Daydream did the rest on her own :). Can we not get Trent and Mersey anyway as we’ve been on a bit of it? Or is that cheating?! :)

:D awe, I was only pulling your leg. You live on it so you more than qualify in my book x.
I see Daydream has been over Summit on the Rochdale.
You've got to plan that, it's stunning.
Starting in the basin at Manchester, up the Rochdale 9 through the city centre and Canal Street is a real experience.
Failsworth not so, and Rochdale itself was a rubbish tip when we passed through, but out into the wilds and it's stunning. If you can get through the gritty city centre and outlying estates it's worth the adventure:thumbsup:

Ive been looking at plaques of places we’ve been in hire boats and am wondering if that counts too :). We’ve been on the LLangollen canal and Pontscylliat aqueduct.

we are hoping to take more time off this year and maybe do the Shropshire ring? Tho I saw that someone does a convoy trip on the Rochdale and over. I think it’s to have folks doing the locks for you? Or maybe it’s just a safety in numbers thing going through Rochdale :)

  12. Do you have to navigate around the discarded shopping trolleys and old bicycles as you pass thru' Rochdale?

Ps I’ve heard interesting tales from boaters who’ve passed through Canal Street etc. I think I’d be keeping to the non towpath side!

Nuneaton was like that, though someone had earlier fished a few bikes out and left them on the towpath. Shopping trolley and lots of rubbish still floating about

Safety in numbers. The keeper opens the first lock out of Manchester (10 or 11) and says see you in 4 hours. Along the way through the estates he pops up now and then. We thought nothing of it until at lock 20 something he met us and locked the lock behind us.
"Glad you made it guys, someone got macheted to death the other month at one of the locks in a drug deal gone wrong"
    Mmmm
Anyway, at Sowerby Bridge at the other end is Tuel Lane lock.
19 feet deep. 7 foot deeper than Stenson and the deepest lock on the system.
That's booked passage as well coz the amount of water it ships drains the pound and it has to be refilled before the next boats are let through.
    Fascinating waterways...

Lol, another boring story of our travels. We did Canal Street during Pride! Not intentionally it just fell that way. Lots of cottaging going on in the foundations of the high rise buildings the canal passes through. Not threatening, but syringes and condoms decorating the locks were a bit unsavoury
