In a hypomanic phase. Got stuff from my student days: Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen in Love...; Undertones - Teenage Kicks; The Only Ones -Another Girl...

 

That record, IMO, has the best pop guitar solo of all time. Perfect, not a note wasted, no showing off, just great melody. A fantastic pop record all round.


Even though it's about heroin really.

Yes, I love it. It's really tight, and that version is far better than all the covers I've heard.

I used to really pee of my now ex-wife about heroin songs - she'd play something she really liked - I'd tell her it was about heroin - which an amazing amount of apparently harmless love songs songs actually are. Mind youu, she used to pee me off too - I'd play her something, she didn't like it, 2 years later she'd play it to me and rave about, I'd fish out the CD and say, "Yeah, we already have that, you hated it". Or it would be for instance "Hurt" Jonny Cash and I'd play her the 9" nails original which is FAR better - another heroin song - double whammy!

I used to have a thing about heroin songs, there are soooo many from the late seventies/early eighties when almost every single person in the music industry was hoovering the stuff up!
