No, the newest I have ever bought was 2 years old.
I let somebody else handle the safety recalls and most of the depreciation.

  2. I bought a VW T2 Kombi bus back in 1976, in Nigeria.

The sales person was awful......'Don't come back to the showroom until you have the cash'
The dealership workshop was so bad, it never had a pre delivery check.
I never took it back for its first service and that is probably why it has given excellent service for 43 years!

  5. NO - little old bloke here - never, ever bought a new car. Never owned a Korean or Jap car. Have bought several MGs as I enjoy driving quickly - still have one - every day car is a Mondeo which is quick - but not had a speeding conviction for around 10 years - although I do drive around slowly in the bus.

  7. It’s true - you’ll stop getting those ads for incontinence pants and funeral homes. Is that what you want?

  8. I used to lease for 2 years at time years ago. . The depreciation vs the value lost worked in my favor. But I also used a motorcycle to get around so the mileage was kept under the stated limit. Sort of like renting . But just handed in the keys after the lease, Without having to try and sell it which was a big pain in the neck.I also got a great write off on my taxes as I put the lease under my company name. And I can choose a different car and different model That was working with my changing lifestyle. It doesn’t work for everybody but at the time it worked out perfect for me. The best cars I’ve had were in the late 80s early 90s. I would go to police auctions in New York and buy police cars from like $600-$1000.They even came equipped with cop lights in them.cop suspension , cop motors, etc. like the blues brothers.mobile Most of the buyers/bidders were taxi companies. And I would talk to all the guys and they wouldn’t bid on a car, and let me have one for Super cheap. When was this exact model 89 Plymouth. they would take the lights off and spray the whole thing white. Everything was power windows locks the whole thing even the trunk. 340 in.³ motor. The beast .you couldn’t kill it. F678C3D1-FE97-47F3-A0E4-19C10B5F1EAB.jpeg

  12. I bought a new Skoda Fabia TDI in 2002. I'm still driving it every day with 231,000 miles on the clock and it still goes like a train. I service it myself too. I wouldn't buy a new car now today as I think they are too gadgetty. But that Fabia is bullet proof.

  13. I've never bought a new car. Even if i could afford one i'm not sure i would.
This is the newest car i've ever bought in 2005 and it was 15 at the time.

  14. i bought a new honda 'bout 15 years ago, still doing a great job cutting my grass.

  15. I've had two Honda cars and a number of Honda motorcycles but never one of their lawn mowers ... perhaps when my current one breaks down?

    Only this:
Under £5000 new in the 1990's, a blast to drive and bigger on the inside than out (could get more in it than a VW Polo).
Galvanised, side impact bars in the doors. Always felt safe despite looking like something out of @Barneyrubble 's Corgi collection.
Puncture chucked me over a hedge in it, did a roll, landing on the headlights and ended up on all four wheels facing where I'd just come from .... but in a field. Slight buckle in the floor pan wrote it off :-(

Yes and no! They had the unlovely 900cc base model, which albeit sharing much, was a different animal in terms of suspension and the massive 1100cc of the "Sporting" :D
We had five altogether (only one new) as I bought and sold them to generate some cash for a badly needed second car
