I’ll do the best I can considering my lack of funds and the environment I’m working in It’s not going to be a pretty van Main priority is to stop it getting worse and keeping the weather out
Yes para but that bus was rushed and and painted in the damp .now even with little money you will do it right way same as my 67 beetle it will take time as i cant just throw money at it or i could do it in couple of months no prob
I’m looking forward to your beetle resto If you ever come up north in your camper it would be nice to meet up You can camp here in the bus for a night or two if you wanted
Stripped the seam sealer out of the edge of the steel part that holds the sliding track cover on to find this I’ve spent an hour tonight scraping it out with a Stanley blade and small flat blades screw driver to get it cleaned out. Tmw I’ll use a small wire wheel on a small rotary tool to clean it out some more then I’ll keep syringing swafega metal clean and restore in it for a while. Next stage after that will be another wire brushing heating it up with a heat gun to dry it out then keep daubing thinned down hammerite rust paint in there
I bought one and it arrived today It’s ripped even though the seller described it as new. I’m not having much luck of late
You sir a lovely man That’s a massive help because I can then remove a door or window and leave it out for a few days. Thank you so much
judging by the colour of the rust, more like Corten "B" Steel, that's typical of the angel of the north
Corten weathers really well, its a structural steel with Copper as one of its elements. That's what gives it that nice look, it will last for years. However, Para's bus needs weathering to rid the sheen & not show it off
Trouble is it’s cold up their and at mo , the steel is getting very cold then moisture has nowhere to go trapped between two waterproof layers , good luck with that I doubt it’s jus going to be local .
