One of the many things killing my father was the asbestosis from working with blue asbestos at power stations. And working where the lads were rolling it up with grease and playing football with it.

I can remember when lads were told on a building site to break up the asbestos sheets in to small fragments so they could save on skips it was a roasting day they were in just shorts...they were told by other guys on the site the dangers but just didn't take it seriously ...that was years back . They certainly would now with all the attention it gets these days .

I used to work at a sheltered home for the elderly, That was built in the mid ‘60’s. I remember digging flower beds over and finding small broken up sheets of asbestos, paint tins and all sorts of other builders rubbish, where basically the grounds in between the old peoples bungalows and flats had all the stuff buried, then turfed over.

This thread has turned into a rambling shambling wandering sad thing.

Perhaps we should get it locked because it has served its porpoise.

I think it probably reflects the overwhelming excitement that we endure daily!

I think I will lock. As per usual it has gone off topic a bit and run it's course.
