We get Red Back Spiders here & once in a while you might see a Funnel Web Spider.
The Red Back bite can be fatal but rarely is these days thanks to the antvenine but the Funnel Web is much more serious as you can be dead within 15 minutes depending on where you've been bitten.

Found some largish black spiders in the garage when i moved a locker. Hadnt seen any like them before. SEen lots of similar ones in the garden and got bitten by one a while back. Never been bitten by a spider before and it did actually hurt at the time and i got some swelling there too. Spider came off worse!

 

I've seen those in France and Spain

 

I got bitten by a garden spider when I was just drifting off to sleep in bed....jumped about three feet in the air.....quite a feat when you're horizontal
felt like a needle prick....(the bite that is....not me)

 

Not poisonous but can be aggressive.
