  1.
  2. if I could translate the kick in the arse turbo off my VRS onto the van that would be cool
    :)

  3. Yeah, by far the easiest to install, and once you've driven a motor with a turbo on it you'll love the warp factor of the boost kicking in!!

My current daily is a mk2 golf GTD... only a 1.6TD, but once you get used to the slight turbo lag, you can do some real quick lanes driving with it... putting the power back on before you go round a corner is the fun part as when you hit the apex of a bend the turbo is then hitting its max boost and you're off!!

    it's great fun

I have a variable vane turbo on my car and there is no kick in the pants and no lag either, smooth linear power delivery, just phenomenal, makes me smile :)

  4. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Paul, my daily is a MK4 TDi. It's very heavy, but still like a go-kart and the tyres don't last long!

  5. A supercharger need engine power to run,,the turbo use waste exhaust ;)

  12. Is this a suitable cam for the above?

    278 degree Duration, .410" lift

    ?

    :)

  13. Is that the lift at the cam or the valve?

if it's at the cam, then actual lift is .533, which isn't bad!!

  14. This is an interesting thread for me as I've got a 2.4 Type 4 motor with those Marmitety Empi HPMX40's on that is producing a big fat amount of torque, not a firebreathing engine but it goes well enough fully loaded with a Puck on tow too. My engine has gasflowed Type 4 1800 heads and some say that the carbs are a bit too small, but this makes the gas speed quite high at all points in the rev range making a gearbox an optional extra.
I have the 1800 engine for rebuild now so those books suggested are now in my basket on Amazon so that I can build something quite nice, I'm new to building these as I only usually build old Mini engines (sorry, although my 1963 Mini pumps out 136bhp).

  15. That'll be at the cam... it's an odd lift/duration that one... I wonder who makes the cams for them, as it doesn't relate to a web or a eurorace one!!

    Personally I'd either be using a web 86a, or a eurorace H

  16. cheers
    :)

  17. So have you decided on the final engine size? is it the 2366?
