Today I looked at my log book for the bus and found that I have driven my bus about 1600 miles since getting it back from the MOT in late August.
One Southampton-Bristol-Hartland Devon-Southampton circuit. And Techenders.
I think I must be making up for lost time.

And now I have mastered fixing the wibbly indicator stalk on a Peugeot COM2000 unit involving taking the airbag out pulling the steering wheel and fiddling... on the third attempt it went right and the indicators started working and the headlamps actually turned off main beam.

Nothing compares to a modern car with loads of bits that go ping and are cleverly designed to fail safe and short out the airbag trigger circuit permanently.

  5. I would remove the power coat where the fan meets the hub in case it chips off then the fan comes loose, as said above the fans are quite often missing a blade, best bet if missing one is to remove the opposite one I read somewhere

It is true, but if you can get it balanced some how...

  7. I think I just may have fixed the bolt that holds the oil pick up pipe stud on my tp engine.......I needed to use this
    20171005_151927.jpg
sacrificed a 10mm spanner with the grinder and bent it so it could get to the nut inside the case.......
the main worry was dropping the nut inside but taped a strong magnet to it which held the nut until the stud was in. had to stick some gaffer tape over it as well as the stud just lifted the nut so that held it down.
sump plate all back on and torqued to 5lb(could do with a smaller torque wrench)and 1 litre of oil in to check for any leak and also put a new oil filter on while I was under the engine. hopefully mobile by sunday again, fingers crossed...

Put the engine and box back in the pickup, connected everything back up except the FI lead to the coil as the spade had come off, searched every box and drawer in the workshop for a new spade connector!! Not one, 5 pm job stopped went biking :p
Halfords first stop in the morning

  9. It's probably better than it was when it was dirty and covered in oil instead of clean coating

  12. One does one's best. I now get a satisfying "clonk" when I stick the key in the ignition lock.

Interesting but you could have put all those relays under the back of the fuse tray and wired it up accordingly, that is of course, if you have a late bay loom.
It is a faff but can be done.

  16. I've afraid my spare fuse box slots are taken...

Connected up the heat exchangers to the operating cables.

Removed the single port oil cooler - should have done this while I had the engine out. Really fiddly with it in. Offered up the twin port cooler and adaptor but didn't have the correct fittings to button it all up.

Finally persuaded off the last allen bolt retaining the near side drive shaft. That's now off and on the bench for a rebuild.
