I just changed the wheel because of a slow puncture and used the spare wheel off the front. So its not just a decoration.
Changed it in the car park at Petworth House.
Now driving round on one steel 14 inch with retreaded radial, one alloy 15 inch at the front. Not quite as dire as a space saver.

There is a slow puncture because there is a nail in the tread.

Off to tyre shop on Monday I think.

  2. Just done some tidying up of winter ravaged paintwork - charged the battery up and started first time (well nearly) and been for first drive of the year - camping next week I hope - unless this summer weather is over by then

  3. Took her for a day out to Newborough , Anglesey...nice campsite just up the road.[IMG]

With Clem having been away for about 8 weeks getting small bits of welding done and a fresh bit of 0range colour to protect all the work, today was the day that I'd said I needed him back to get sorted for Techenders.
Apparently he was trailered back to the repair yard yesterday afternoon with the fresh paint done, but nothing fitted up... so with two pairs of hands being better than one, even if the second pair were mine, we made a valiant effort.
It's not finished, and I've not got him back yet, but hopefully tomorrow will see a triumphant return of The Little 0range to my driveway

Refitted the cab head-liner and sun visors, mirror, curtain track etc; put all the fittings including glass, window scrapers, trim etc back on the passenger door after the new outer skin; got both door mirrors back on; stone chip protected both front wheel arches and put the wheels back on; screwed in the rear lights; cleaned up round the windscreen and got the glass back in; filled and primed the patch on the cab roof where the leaky old aerial stump used to be; refitted the passenger door seal; and then stood back and admired the lovely shiney 0range paint, thinking that I better polish up the white as it now looks a bit rubbish in comparison.
Still need to get the leisure battery back in, put the rear bumper on, get a splash of white top coat on the cab roof, refit the door cards, and get the electronic ignition sorted & timed.
And we've given up on the rear gear rod bushes and heater cables until next time I think. But apart from a monumental amount of cleaning to make it habitable for Techenders, I think we could almost be there.

It’s not too shabby is it? And the dirt wire brushed back to lovely original 0range paint too before it got covered again

  13. Yesterday I finally fitted the hot start relay I've had since January. Big difference in speed the starter spins now, so I'm calling that a win. I still seem to have a dull spark problem though. Even with the starter spinning faster, it didn't fire until I ran a wire from the battery to the coil.
With Filmore running for the first time in 4 months, I loaded up the family and we went for a run along Worthing seafront. Nothing much to report, but seemed a bit sluggish, and there is a stutter at high revs. Starting to think I have a sparking problem.

At least you didn’t break the solenoid insulator like I did when I went to fit mine.

I had been wondering about a relay for the coil to improve spark under load when driving at night as Idle revs drop significantly to stall point sometimes. Turning the radio off helped a bit

  17. Love the VW badge being used as gas air vent!

I may have to nick that idea and do the same to my cooker

Should probably concentrate on fitting the cooker properly first.

Its been held in by a strap since i collected it from techenders a while ago!

Yus I was wondering one day what I could do with a couple of badges I had kicking around and that’s what sprung to mind , the other one sits over the the old sat nav pad int middle on top of the dash , I did have a large one too where my now o r angle clock sits in knock head locker door . Get on and get it done then , I’d like to see a pic when done :D
