A Skoda estelle, or, one that's already going up in price, a Skoda Rapid. I saw a v nice white one recently in Sheffield.

So did I, they may be rubbish but they're a quirky little oddity.
East German cooking pans were good quality, I used to bring a lot of them back to sell in the olden days.

Manta A. I had one of these bad boys (mine never looked this clean though)

Although probably is a classic already so I fail the test :-(

Classics seem to be moving into two broad categories:

Cars that were expensive anyway on release, and cars deemed affordable and desirable in their own generation, but perhaps unobtainable to anyone under 25 at the time of release.

But we want cars that are with bobbins now, so I nominate:

    Peugeot 306 GTI and Rallye.
    Peugeot 106 Rallye
Peugeot 406 V6 Coupe (still a beautiful car)

    Fiat Uno turbo
    Fiat Coupe

    Ford Puma
    Ford Ka
    Fort Focus ST170

    Vauxhall - any VXR derivative.

VW - any G Charger derivative of any model.
    VW Lupo GTI
    VW Polo GTI
    VW Corrado VR6

Toyota Celica GT4 - both generation

All are comparatively rare, but cheap.

If you have room and a bit of cash it's worth hiding away some basic spec Focuses, Golfs, Rovers as these always draw crowds and can be used for film work in the future.

If you want an epic car for now that's worth bugger all VW Phaeton and Merc S classes (£100k + car worth £5k, just get a warranty!)

Nyet, alas the market disappeared when the wall came down & cartons of Marlboros didn't buy as much. :(

I notice all your suggestions are all getting on for 20 year old plus so could be said they are already classics

  10. Mercedes SL R230 models...... early ones were scrapped for fun as owners were terrified of the bills that the electrics can throw up. Parts and access to diagnostic equipment is getting easier now....... I think a low mile well looked after one will hold a place in people's hearts.

Also E46 BMW M3's they are being broken at an alarming rate as they enter the chav scrapper era........ good ones coming out the other side cherished will rocket in value I think.

  11. Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 v6 ?

  12. I think this is already well on the upper rungs of the expensive classic ladder.

I think what's considered 'everyday' type vehicle (there's two a penny at the moment) will become the classics.

Because no one will bother saving them.

I'd agree on the CSL and Evo ones, the next gen V8's too.

Forgot Porsche Boxters, and Audi TT's, but there are millions of both!

  16. Good CSL's are already £50k plus..... they will be a topping £100k before too long. E36 evo's are rare indeed.

I recon a low mile bog standard e46 M3 in manual flavour will be £25k all day long 5 years from now......

I thought that when looking at cars last year. I thought I may get a Vauxhall cavalier as I like them and there used to be zillions. Where have they all gone?? There was about 2 available in the whole of the U.K.
I reckon mondeos may end up being in short supply as there were so many they wouldn't have been deemed worth saving.
