We've got a bed for him, right by the fire and plenty of snacks and a new lead (see what I did there)....
The smiley faces on Henry’s are now optional, as they can be unclipped and removed for the sense of humourless.
Please be careful with this thing, some of these radiograms have live chassis and/or are "offline", i.e. no mains transformer, done to save money as winding transformers was costly. Anyway, dead easy to connect yourself to your local power station in many unexpected and interesting ways. Basically stuff that wouldn't be done today! Of course, you might be a qualified sparky or an expert at electronics for all I know.....my apologies if you are. You could try Servisol on the pots. Any caps (capacitors) it has might well be past their best and you will need to check the insulation on the chokes. Oh and they are beautiful pieces of furniture with a wonderful warm sound and are worth saving, if you have the space, skills and time PS. I know a few folk who have supplies of valves aka toobs, if you need them.
Ah thanks for that. I’m definitely not a qualified sparky, I just like taking stuff apart. Occasionally I even manage to put it back together again! I’ve changed the record player in it a couple of times in the course of my ownership, longer ago, trying to find one that works well. I’ve not managed to connect myself to the national grid so far, but that could well be more by luck than judgement! I’ll probably just leave it now.... getting decks to fit inside is nigh on impossible now, and it’s not worth cannibalising something decent. If I do have a go at it, I’ll give you a shout for valves etc
Have you tried a Lenco deck? Tho' prices of those are/were on the rise. Most of the decent Garrards, 301 or 401, are silly money nowadays. Think there used to be a forum called Lenco Heaven, or something like that. Anyway, back to Hoovers, I like a Henry.
