An amazing story, literally bought tears to my eyes. The first car finally yours and on the road with you.

Yes the good old A type engine. Having owned the direct descendant of that car, and that one doing as much as 150 miles to the galllon of oil, through piston rings and direct crankshaft seal leaks, I can imagine your troubles on the journey. But you got back.

A Minor was the only friends car I ever went in that had a crank handle start !

  5. Great story and I’m so glad you managed to buy it back.
My dad had a traveler when I was younger
I have fond memories of that car
Even my dad clipping me round the head for poking at the rotten woodwork.

  9. Great history.

Well done for getting Henry home.

Loads of fond childhood memories of my mates mums Traveller.

She used to take the entire football team to matches in it. 3 kids on the front seat, 5 on the rear seat & 3 in the boot!

I'm not sure - anything I've seen just says Grey, but I'm sure it's supposed to be a shade of Blue.
I'll need to find out, as there are a few small rusty patches that I'd like to attend to sooner rather than later.

Henry has always been garaged since restoration, so last night was his first 'night out' in many decades.... he will fit in my garage - but I still need to clear a (now much smaller) pile of stuff out
(the reason I have suddenly taken to car booting!)
plus my 'up and over' garage door will hit his rear end, so I have a pair of wooden hinged doors to fit - but they are naked, so today's project - amongst other things - will be to knot them and get a coat of primer / undercoat on.
    The fun begins!
