It’s a moot point. The fundamental bit is you have to disclose ALL things which MAY have a bearing on an insurers decision to accept the risk. I’m sure that the circumstances in this case wouldn’t cause a premium loading and I would disclose for peace of mind. I’m not an underwriter or actuary though. Motto…..if in doubt disclose.
Wouldn’t even consider it….g Wouldnt necessarily help Oz. Even if she did or had to go down the MIB tortuous route, there is the risk that the insurers would then seek to recover from Oz. It’s only minor damage but some are pretty ruthless. They would though have to prove it was the fault of Oz. Merely not having insurance would not be classed as “ his fault”. Also don’t think It’s particularly good for working relations
As you’ve said I would just chalk it up to experience and think yourself lucky. It could of been a hell of lot worse if you’ve had a bad accident on the road and had no insurance.
@Ozziedog Sounds like something than can happen.. With out people being aware.. Luckily it has become apparent to all parties, with a fairly simple accident.. Imagine if you were involved in a fatality, your fault or not,and it was found you had no insurance.. legal teams would have been all over it.. Chin up fella, well done You seem to be getting a grip of it all..
I'm sure.. A supermarket car park is not private land, Allowing the public to use it makes it public.. Everyone needs to be insured I've read of people getting a ticket, for no license or insurance, While learning to drive on in a near empty supermarket car park.
You are right….I’ve been retired too long! The police will have taken a light approach ( Oz was lucky) probably because the car wasn’t being driven, no body was injured and only minor damage……plus they hate paperwork !
Thanks Blimey @Ozziedog what a nightmare! Could have been a lot worse tho. I am now going to find my insurance emails and print out, and check the certificates. I had my Fiat Coupe insured as 16v not 20v despite me keep pointing out. I got a bit shirty last time so I’m going to double check it’s correct now. I had that problem @paulcalf when I was trying to check/prove my ncb from another vehicle as could no longer access the certificate I never had this difficulty when everything was on paper!
Anything produced with your name on it (that they have stored on their systems) can be accessed with a Subject Access Request, if you need it. They are free.
I take screenshots of every important certificate or form that gets sent online these days. Football E-tickets embedded in emails can disappear if the clubs IT system goes down, so you end up queuing at the ticket office along with hundreds/thousands of others.....
Brill, yup, all sorted now as I just need to finish this and You now know the original version, so if you ever doooo hear a newer version told around a T.E. fireplace at silly o’clock in the morning after the odd Stella or two, you might want to straighten me up the next morning at breaky Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,can’t wait for summer
This all sounds bad news, Oz, what a palaver as others have said, at least it's just "stuff" and nobody was hurt.
Strangely my camper insurance does give driving other vehicles, I even tried to take that away as I don’t need it but it’s just part of the policy
