Started putting the cab back together today It’s been about 14 years maybe since I removed the loom and the labelling I did on it has either faded or fallen off and I don’t have the pictures I took before I removed it
I need a circlip for the handbrake pin Anybody know what size it is or have a spare one they can take to techenders
Top tip for dash wiring - take the windscreen back out (for the 10th time probably! lol), the time it takes is well worth it.
What are your plans for the interior Rich? I saw a very well done wooden interior at a show a couple of years back. I thought of you but I can’t find the pictures I took. It was made from reclaimed timber l, even the floor! Sort of like this, but not this bus!
I’ve never taken the screen out When it got delivered back to me from Paul there was a nice stone chip on the passenger side of the screen so I’m sure if I try removing the screen it will break. Thanks for the advice though
I really wish I could find the pictures I took, I think they must be on an old phone but I thought I’d saved them all. Yes it was slightly rustic but really neat joinery and he wasn’t a carpenter, he just took his time and I thought it was really impressive!
It is what it is and it’s nobody’s fault really. It has been a pain prepping and painting with it fitted but where there’s a will there’s a way. I’ll get a chip repair guy to fill it once it’s on the road.
I remember he had a full width Rusty Lee bed. The floor was reclaimed pallet timber laid and glued to a thin ply then sanded flat and varnished. The side and door panels were made from the same process and the cupboards the same. His roof liner was the same as Beavers, a woven map with down lights set in. But I wish I could describe his bits of racking he’d made, they were works of art, sort of minimalism but very sturdy. Granted it wasn’t a bay but it was tres cool and practical!
Must be a fair bit of weight in there using pallet wood to build it. I’ve got some ideas on how to make ply look like separate sections of timber And Flotex do a wood floor look carpet so that should save some weight.
I liked the pallet wood look mainly because he’d sanded them completely smooth which almost halved their original depth!
