Another brake hose fitted today, left hand front this time & only one more to do!

Popped on a new hard line too. It was cold out so I just tackled the one :)

    I know!

I need to practice doing the flares as last attempt they didnt flare out too good. I'll try one day when its warmer.

  7. Needs a bit of practice, but with a decent flaring tool they come out ok. The DIN "bubble flares" seal nicely.

I'll have a look at the make of the flaring tool set & what comes with it.

  12. Absolute junk. The single-handle ones work really well. The "mandrils"? are nicely shaped.

Yes it looks like the business end of the Sykes Pickavant one I had. You have to spanner it, I just yanked a lever. Massive price difference at £250 though! Not that I paid that, mine was well used and £40.

Right, the thermal layers have been applied and I'm off for one last foray into the engine bay paint prep work.
The thermometer says -8c air temp. Might have to get an extra bit of carpet to sit on....

  19. Good on you, if you're painting with rustoleum at this temperature it won't be cured until April 14th 2023. Brrr chilly.

  20. Ok, it's 20 minutes since I asked a stupid question so it's about time for another.

Would this be suitable for my hydraulic clutch for the Subaru gearbox, are they the same fittings?
