Well, finally made a start on the wiper motor upgrade. After a couple of hours in, came to the conclusion that @snotty must write the Haynes manuals. Finally extracted mechanism or should I say got it as far as glove box opening. Guess whose motor hasn’t got a plug to “unplug “. Looks like I’m doing a bit of soldering in a confined space……now where did I put my stash of scotch locks?
Are you absolutely sure that there's no plug, I can't imagine the factory hard wiring it in... but maybe! I've not done mine yet (it's on the list) so I'll have to see what I've got...as and when.
Oddly, you may be right: the earlier ones may not have had a connector (or if they did, it's buried down in the loom somewhere). A 6-way automotive connector from the motor factors might work.
I swapped out my whole 68 one (motor and mech) for a late bay one and I think I'd remember if it wasn't plug and play. I took the windscreen and dash top out, no twisting under the dash or through dash holes thank you very much. How you guys (and gals) do this through the holes is beyond me, just look where it is!
Easy enough, if you take the glovebox out. The mech just drops down and you can wiggle it out sideways and down. Would you like to see my testimonials?
Wishing I'd done mine when the dash top was out. Will have to fit my Snotty kit the hard way now; it'll have to be soonish I guess as the park function has decided not to now.
I tried just the dash top first but it didn't help enough, the screen was sloping back in the way and I was still hunched in the van. My screen seal had a deluxe plastic insert which made it easy to get in and out.
Just long enough to reach the middle of the rear of the stereo. Then connected to a too short interconnector before joining what I assume is the wiring for LHD. mine is RHD.
