So there is an increasing drip feed of the possibility of a nuclear war, today my screen is saying Russia is popping one up into space.

    So, my question is,

is this how it felt at the start of the Cold War? Fear of the what if, and the need to spend on arms and be ready for every eventuality.

Our economy was in recession last year and is flatlining this year.

They exhausted Megan and Harry and the Olympics are months away.

So….of course they need to scare us.

  6. Given what we've seen of Russian technology recently, I'm not sure it would work anyway. Just Vlad waving his knob.

  7. If nukes start flying we’re all *****ed
Even if just one place gets hit it will impact the entire earth

I’m told the beginning of the Cold War was a very serious threat
It certainly still was when I was in the RAF

Not much us normal bods can do about any of it though

  8. I remember watching this at school

  9. I'll have to nip up the road to Aldermaston, check whether ours are still working.

I did hear they've been using parts from Just Kampers

I loath conspiracy theories, but...there had to be a 'but' :p, with Russia's economy reportedly now on a war footing to enable vast numbers of munitions to be produced, the temptation may be in Russia to test how many bullets etc we have left after we sent our stocks to Ukraine.

  13. Reading the DT this afternoon this is more about the Russians putting a nuke into space which is reckoned to be more effective at wiping out the satellites we rely upon. This then makes it more difficult to respond to any attack, whether that be conventional or nuclear. I suppose time will tell.

A nuclear bomb in orbit, like any hypersonic missile, is quite difficult to steer so you can make a pretty good guess where to intercept it and make sure it scatters its launch site with junk. Its why the kinetic weapons- the energy in a bit of orbiting railway track is pretty massive - " rods from God" were abandoned too.

Slow speed cruise missiles/ drones are scarier because they cant be predicted or spotted as quickly.
