Over the weekend we trailered the camper up to Pontefract to a nice chap who is going to tackle the bodywork and paint. Hopefully in a few months we'll bring it back to reunite it with the engine that I rebuilt, and I can then start on a new interior based on the old Devon layout that increasingly resembles weetabix. Anyway, first day in and he's got busy with it! First, an interesting discovery: the front spare wheel mount is actually a caravan sink (according to the sticker)! Glass out, lights, handles, etc. removed
Stainless too. It's a bit of a mess on the panel underneath though, but I think he'll be replacing the whole front rather than messing about patching bits in
We dropped really lucky with ours when I look at yours with the front panel removed, we had no further rot at the bottom and the lip below the panel was intact. We did have a bit of rot on the defo panel and some behind the top of the panel but none of it was a concern, just surface rust after investigation!
The list of panels on the Schofields invoice is quite large It could have been a lot worse though (but he hasn't scratched the surface of what needs cutting out yet!)
Are the wheel arch the £400 ones? with weld through primer If they are their almost a perfect fit, although I did have to stick a trolley jack underneath the front of mine to get it close enough to weld. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
