  1. also fitted a speed sensor into the equation. although ive been told they're marmite.

will swap for a gps one at some point.

  2. 21.05.22 Sunny spells, very hungover, a need to crack on and not waste a day.

Today was a mammoth day...it feels like i have accomplished alot. although on 'paper' doesn't appear so.

you can start to see why it costs so much to get these conversions done.

anyway, got the fuel pump mounted so i can measure fuel lines and get those ordered.

mounted using some subaru radiator bobbins and Rivnuts, any excuse to use that tool.

i think clipped in the heater matrix pipes as I'd gotten round to prime and paint the offside.

here i used tech screws, didn't have much to fix to.

i then kicked over my tub of heat shrink, and i was devastated.

i made up a wiring loom for the fans, incorporating it with the 7core to go to the ecu. all finished in loom tape and tidied up.

i then noticed that there has never been a rear bush on the gear linkage and the gear linkage had been cable tied around the insulation on the Y piece.. i have no idea how it changed so nice when it wad restricted... anyway need to find a new rear bush.

from here i decided to fit the fuel rail to the inlet manifold, clean up the throttle body and inlet manifold.

i did some cutting to allow for the manifold to be switched 180 degrees. and started looking at what wiring i need to alter.. i then decided to call it a day. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Telling myself that you're cracking on so I don't have to!!

  5. At techenders @pkrboo gave me a manifold masterclass.

from here I decided ibwas gonna flip the manifold through 180 degrees.

a few bits to trim here and there, brackets to delete. wires to extend and reroute.

    but its done.

its not much to most.. but im pretty happy with the result. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  6. @pkrboo just looking at plumbing now,

im assuming just block off the coolant feed to the throttle body/link it up[IMG]

  7. I thought you didn’t need to flip the manifold in a bus?

  8. this is true,

i dont have a hatch so spinning it round makes alot more sense for being able to access anything.

i think it looks neat too with the alternator relocated to the right

Ooo, it’s got something of a Type 1 feel about it with the alternator on the right!

  15. The engine doesn't fit in its standard form with a VW box and adaptor plate or bellhousing, the throttle body hits the firewall, you have to either fit a 180 degree TB reverser like razzyh has or do a full manifold reversal, like sam has done or @toastie or @MorkC68

So options flip the TB or flip the manifold. I prefer the manifold as its looks a cleaner neater solution personally

The only time you don't have to do anything is if you've got subarugears gearbox which moves the engine further back due to the length of the box. Then you can fit a tight silicon 90 off the TB and bring the intake air filter round to the front. Like I have.

  16. not much done today, I'm absolutely knackered...

Anyway, bunged up the 2xEGR ports on the engine.

fitted a new coupler to the gear linkage.

fitted fuel lines and now ordered clips to suit.

a terrible gearbox mount arrived from a schofield..
i assume there's a different mount that fits onto the gearbox to suit the rubbers available??

    a schofield doesn't list anything. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Is the old rubber beyond reusing Sam?
Bolt it all down and take a view. Numbers on the casting upside down if that makes sense.

Remember to recover your old reverse switch from the old box and replace the blanking plug in the newer one with it;)
Stick your meter on it first so it's not a surprise at mot time if it's given up:rolleyes:

  18. old rubber was the same type, i ended up using silkaflex and some rubber strips to shim it where the gaps where.

yes i shall ensure one swaps the reverse switch over
