Pulled by the police today

  1. Email your local paper with details omitting the fact your tyres are bald. Just send info that shows the officer told you wrong info about out of date tyres and stinging you with a fine and cost of flatbed home - a photo of you ( and family if you have kids) all looking sad and in tears saying your hard worked for family holiday was ruined by copper who doesn't know the law.

The paper won't check and me copper will be in trouble for the bad press- don't worry about concealing some facts that aren't in your favour-the paper won't check-just cause max embarrassment for copper. Then move City cos they'll have it in for you

    Simple.

  2. I got to the 'they were traffic cops" bit, then everything made sense. That Road Wars tv show has a lot to answer for. I'd certainly take up the tyre issue and insist on speaking with the duty sergeant at the station they work out of.

You could complain or apply for a copy of the video footage of the conversation.
You will not get anywhere but it will go on his record.

Glad I live where i do I can’t remember the last time I saw a cop let along a traffic one.

Probably a Splitty owner - they're always trouble.

  7. I would definitely complain. He shouldn't let his personal beliefs overtake his professional judgement. Where's EMPI when you need him?

Probably sitting in a cafe somewhere having a nice friendly chat with Ranchera about the issues of the day

  9. Don’t complain, do what you have to to keep them off your back. You won’t win as it’s not an honest fight.

    Happens from time to time.

Bald tires are a real no no, it’s such an easy pull. sticky out bits of rust are too. You drive a camper so it’s like driving round with ‘look at me’ written all over.

Problem is if you are too complainy, you have a distinctive vehicle, and if it's near to home you could get pulled again by one of his mates. When I got done for speeding - by a single copper pre video days - although I argued the toss I had to accept the ticket. Twice later that week he got on my tail on my way home from work. Maybe he didn't like Capris, or wasn't keen on my dreads! :)

A friend of mine, who was ex mersey tunnel police got done at college by a copper who took a dislike to him. He got a point for each tyre at incorrect pressure! I've forgotten the total but apparently there are a lot of things traffic police can add points on for on a vehicle if they have a mind to.

  11. Did you get a PG9 for 3 bald tyres or 4 tyres that are out of date?
I would question that the tyre pictured is even illegal, should be 1.6mm across the centre 3/4 of the tread and around it's entire circumference. That bald strip looks to be outside of the centre 3/4's to me.

I’d just suck it up rather than a potential £1000 fine per tyre.

  14. Fair enough re the bald tyre, but the issue with six year old tyres - my van has covered about 5k miles in 8 years almost certainly on the same tyres but passed an MOT two days ago.

  15. These sort of plod really get on my tits. Police do a really tough job and need the consent and help of the public. I’ve had dealings with them in the last few years after a serious accident and they were absolutely superb and a credit to the job.

Then you get this moron undermining the hard work of all his colleagues. And it doesn’t appear he even knows the traffic law he’s meant to be enforcing. Needs a bit of retraining, maybe as a street sweeper.

  17. Try to do what you can to comply. What’s his name and collar number. I assume it’s the met. Happy to write to the Chief Constable and bring her, or her staffs, attention to this thread and the circumstances. I’m afraid this officer needs some further training and possibly some attitude adjustment. I thought this attitude was a thing of the past. The guy has issues he shouldn’t be taking to work by the sounds of it!

  19. Does seem a bit harsh sticking a prohibition notice on for dodgy tyres. If it was for rotten chassis, no brakes or dangerous parts than so be it.
