There's a little notch on the sliding door track that you line the runner up with then the runner just lifts off.

  3. I’d sort that intake boot properly fella
If it doesn’t hold you will end up running lean and cooking your engine.

It's one of those jobs that's doable with the engine in place, but is usually quicker to take it out.
I changed the alternator on ours with it in situ and regretted not taking the engine out.

    I did it but..

You will find getting the alternator out to access the manifold a total pain if the engine is in as you have to get the stand off the studs and that needs the fan housing up a cm or two.

And if you try and cheat you will find the manifold end casting pieces might be several mm too long to get them off the studs and the centre manifold tube.

  10. Next time you whip your engine out, change the alt stand studs for M8 bolts. Makes removal a lot easier next time.

Having done this many, many times on different engines I noticed there are quite a few variants of the middle part of the inlet manifold - with some you can wangle without disturbing the alternator, with others you don't have a hope in hell. The worst ones have an extra bit underneath that hooks onto a crankcase bolt - no chance with those. :)
So, there is no definitive yes or no for this but you have nothing to loose from trying (unless you have the crank bolt type manifold). As Mike points out you can also be stumped by over-long head/manifold studs.

On another thread - I got in touch with Bears about my gearbox and he is adjusting the differential at the moment, and will be preparing an invoice by the end of the week.
I made the initial 50% deposit payment on 25th October.
So I expect to be spending some of the Christmas break putting the gearbox back in and discovering the critical component when all the shops are shut over the Bank Holiday period .. .
I do have my 5L of gearbox oil sitting here ready to go..

Advanced fluid solutions. Is my choice.

  15. Bears were quite specific with what oil I should use after they did my box.

I'll try and dig out what it was as its not the same type people recommend on here

Where did you get the ‘filler’ hoses from? Does that include hose at the start of the filler neck?
